BBA has an established Wind and Solar business line and wantsto strengthen its position in the Wind and Solar market across Canada.
In this intermediateleadership role, the manager will be responsible for developing wind and solaropportunities and executing projects.
The manager will leverage their expertise,knowledge of the industry, client relationships and engineering experience toachieve BBA’s objectives below.
Thisposition’s focus will be to enable the growth BBA’s Wind and Solar energybusiness line, supporting the director, lead BBA’s wind, solar andgrid-connected energy storage projects and strengthen client relationships.
BBA is a matrix organization and the Wind and Solarbusiness line has a national focus. Itis responsible for defining the strategy and overall sector performance.
Thebusiness line relies on BBA’s operational teams and disciplines located acrossCanada for execution of its mandates and projects, while at times directlymanaging and executing certain strategic projects.
Please note that this position can be based out of any BBA office(s) or a flexible workarrangement may be considered.
Oversee delivery of projects
Act as Project Leader and / or Project Manager for select strategic projects and clients.
Provide expertise and guidance to both BBA’s clients and project teams.
Conduct technical reviews and oversee engineering and design activities.
Mentor young / future potential lead engineers within the organization.
Fill the role of Project / Study Manager and / or Project Sponsor for strategic clients.
Engage with BBA’s operational teams and disciplines across Canada.
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders in the renewable energy and electricity sector across Canada and the U.S.
Provide exposure to potential new clients and expand relationships with existing clients.
Support the development and execution of the strategy and action plan.
Monitor and maintain strong knowledge of industry trends, key markets and technological advancement.
Position the firm for upcoming opportunities, generate proposals and prepare a pursuit / capture strategy.
Develop and implement a commercial / pricing strategy needed to win.
Monitor any capability gaps and implement strategic partner / teaming requirements needed to win.
Serve as client account manager (CAM) for certain clients.
Work with CAMs to ensure a coordinated client management process.
Cross-sell the services of other divisions within other business lines.
Track opportunities using BBA’s opportunity database management system.
Support the development / sustainability of medium- and long-term backlog projection.
Review bid opportunities and steer the proposal execution plan and deliverables, using elements established in the pursuit strategy, in the direction needed to win.
Support proposal preparation through creative thinking and alternative approaches.
Review proposals to ensure that RFP requirements are met (technical and commercial) and that the price is competitive.
Support the development and execution of the wind and solar strategy and action plan.
Identify target clients and key regions to build a sustainable client portfolio.
Support recommendations for future potential strategic resources / firms that can complement in-house expertise.

or a suitable combination of qualification(s) in a relevant discipline and applicable experience
At least 10 years of relevant power sector / electricity industry experience
5 or more years of wind and / or solar energy project development, project execution and / or operations experience
Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies such as wind turbine generators and / or solar photovoltaic and experience in project equipment selection
Broad knowledge of the renewable energy industry and the electric power sector
Strong communications, interpersonal and relationship building skills
Strong and demonstrated critical thinking and strategic planning skills
Project Management proficiency including experience leading projects and managing project teams to deliver on project objectives within constraints
Available and able to travel to domestic or international destinations
Construction management, supervision and / or coordination experience
Experience in wind and / or solar resource assessments, siting, site layouts
Power generation and / or power utility high and medium voltage experience
Strong personal network within the power and / or renewable energy sector
Budgeting, estimating and scheduling experience
Exposure to and knowledge of battery energy storage systems
Leadership skills (initiatives and / or people leadership focus)
