The Senior Accountant acts as the controller of their assigned entities, understanding the nature of assets, liabilities, income and expense within each general ledger.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all general ledger activity for their assigned entities, which may arise from different transactions (i.

e. investment brokerage transactions, accounts payable, rental activities, fixed asset accounting, HST accounting, etc.).

The Senior Accountant has the following general responsibilities :

  • produce accurate annual financial statements for each entity (quarterly statements may be required)
  • prepare an annual package supporting the financial statements including analyses of current year activity (investment, capital, income statement, etc.
  • for use by the accounting and tax departments

  • respond to questions from management and other stakeholders with respect to activities of assigned entities
  • Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years or progressive industry or public accounting experience in a small, mid-sized, or private enterprises division of a national firm
  • CPA, CA, CMA or CGA designation
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Extensive experience maintaining a set of accounting records or working with general ledger accounting
