Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, this role will contribute to the development and delivery of financial and strategic communications for Great-West Lifeco.
Leads the development and end-to-end management of select strategic communications programs supporting Great-West Lifeco
Collaborates with the CFO / Investor Relations office to develop and execute an external media relations strategy for key financial events including quarterly earnings and corporate actions such as mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, etc.
Forges strong relationships with stakeholders from within Lifeco and business partners aligned with the execution of communications tactics including quarterly and other financial news releases, annual reports and annual meeting communications, investor day and CEO / CFO speaking events
Works with senior business leaders to assess communications needs and goals in the context of overall company business objectives and provide advice and counsel on appropriate communications strategies and tactics
Acts as a key stakeholder on cross-functional project teams to develop and deliver communications plans and tactics reflective of company priorities, change management strategies and employee engagement best practices
Develops a variety of materials to execute on communications strategies, including compelling written materials, PPT presentations, video production, etc.
Qualifications and Competencies :
Post-secondary education in communication, journalism or an equivalent background.
5+ years of progressive experience in communications including financial services and investor relations experience
Extensive experience in media relations targeting the financial reporter community
Strong understanding of and comfort in using financial reporting metrics and core business performance indicators to support communications.
Extensive experience in translating business strategies into a compelling strategic narrative for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong familiarity of data visualization techniques and an ability to work with a graphic designer to deliver visuals that support communications.
High-level of familiarity with all aspects of public company communications requirements
Demonstrated experience in planning and executing strategic internal communications programs, events and announcements.
Experience with advising senior executives while rolling up sleeves’ and executing with excellence
Strong problem-solving, strategic planning, negotiating and project management skills.
Strong ability to socialize plans and influence colleagues and business partners
Progressive responsibility in communications roles in large, complex organizations
Extensive knowledge in a wide variety of contemporary communications vehicles and styles, including online and print
Strong collaboration and relationship building skills and ability to work well with a national team working in different locations
Ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities and operate with a sense of urgency
Comfortable with ambiguity and a changing environment
Ability to handle sensitive / confidential information appropriately
