What You’ll Do The Role :

  • Oversee all daily credit and collections operations for customers and Total Power branches across Canada
  • Establish policies, practices and systems to improve cash flow and reduce receivables.
  • Manage the collection of all past due accounts and report collection status to senior management
  • Establish and maintain close working relationship with sales personnel and general management to support company sales efforts while balancing the maximizing of revenues with minimizing risk.
  • Assessment of creditworthiness of potential customers and periodic credit reviews of existing customers
  • Monitor customer account credit limits, holds and aging of receivables, communicate to the necessary parties when an account is over its limit.
  • Take the lead on strategic customer accounts and address customer disputes concerning billing by liaising with appropriate department to resolve escalated issues.
  • Facilitate monthly customer accounts dispute meeting.

  • Perform collection procedures on escalated credit issues and determine appropriate collection action once these internal efforts are exhausted.
  • Work with collection agencies and lawyers regarding legal actions.
  • Manage and monitor volume of credit checks used online with credit reporting agency to maximize value and minimize costs.
  • Work with insurance company to secure accounts receivable insurance
  • Evaluate and prepare analysis to determine the amount of Bad Debt Reserve and recommend adjustments as required.
  • Leading, directing, managing and developing your direct reports
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • What You Need

  • Minimum 5 years’ Credit and Collections experience and minimum 3 years’ related managerial experience in a corporate environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
  • CCP (Certified Credit Professional) designation or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with credit scoring systems and credit reporting agencies.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and understanding of computerized accounting systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive and personable attitude.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills will assist with working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidate should be assertive in following up with customers and using different strategies to collect receivables.
  • Excellent negotiating skills, conflict management and problem solving.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information
  • Strong working knowledge of credit principles and best practices
  • Presentation skills and ability to lead meetings
  • Understanding of construction industry collections, liens and bond claims
  • In the case of a power outage or declared State of Emergency by any level of Government in Ontario, be available for work.
  • Working Conditions

  • Some local travel may be required.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Occasional after-hours support may be required.
  • Lifting or moving up to 30lbs may be required.
