We are currently seeking a highly talented and motivated individual to join our Waterloo team.

The primary function of this position is to ensure effective resolution of and application issues that arise from our Customers, Distributors and Regional Sales Offices.

This position will act as the interface between the regional support office and the factory, by coordinating and accessing factory and regional resources for the resolution of customer issues.

Considerable Machine Vision knowledge is required in this role, since the Senior Application Engineer (SAE) is responsible for managing high level customer issues where a quick and responsive resolution is required.

Other responsibilities for the SAE will at times include participating in sales calls with the sales person responsible for the accounts in that region, and to prepare necessary equipment for demo purposes at trade shows or customer visits.

Essential functions :

  • Create and maintain an effective interface between the Regional Office and the engineering, manufacturing teams at the factory office to resolve product issues and to communicate technical updates.
  • Effectively manage all Field Issues raised by the regional office ensuring the issue is addressed and completed in a timely manner.
  • Effectively work with the factory office in addressing Root Cause and Probable Analysis issues that are identified.
  • Interface and maintain a relationship with 3rd Party Vendors and ensure cross-capability charts are current and accurate.
  • A Product Owner (Champion) of assigned products from a DALSA business unit and ensure technical information is communicated within regional support and sales.
  • Own and manage timely resolutions to product issues and anomalies that need escalation to the SBU.
  • Represent Product Support and Sales interests at Key Business unit and Manufacturing meetings. Communication of all product information critical to the success of the Product Support Group and Sales is essential.
  • Own and manage Root Cause Requests and provide timely action and reporting.
  • Provide back up to Product Support Specialist for time off and peak demands.
  • Ensure that Sales and Product Support receive preliminary product information and training at each stage of new product releases.
  • Manage timely co-ordination of consignment cameras at strategic framegrabbers to develop effective interfaces.
  • Support the sales office and act as a technical resource and knowledge expert during customer meetings.
  • Qualifications

  • A Technologist Diploma in Electronics and / or an Engineering Degree in Electronics is preferred.
  • A minimum 3-5 years of work experience in a technical support role.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Advanced Knowledge of all DALSA DDI ( excluding IPD) products
  • Strong skills in Project Management, training and managing people
  • An effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
