As the Manager of the Cyber Security R&D team, within the Cyber Security DevOps & Reliability organization, you will guide a technical team responsible for the design, development and project delivery of cyber security infrastructure, platforms, and applications critical to protecting TELUS.

What you’ll do

  • As an Effective Leader , you will : Drive a high engagement high performance culture Provide strong support to the team members to achieve the team goals Inspire and empower a national team of security and technology professionals with your vision, strategy and program execution management
  • As an Expert , you will : Leverage your experience and expertise to manage the strategic cyber security infrastructure, platforms, applications critical to protecting TELUS Collaborate with the architecture and operations team to deliver new cyber security infrastructure, platforms, and applications, and the on-going life cycle management Collaborate with the operations team and stakeholders to drive resiliency, reliability, and seamless performance of our deployments Partner with vendor management and vendors on maintenance & support (M&S) requirements and develop vendor scorecards and provide regular feedback on quality of vendor’s operational support Support established KPIs to ensure performance is measured against expected business outcomes.
  • As a Strategist , you will : Proactively define TELUS’ internal cyber security strategy, roadmap and vision Define strategic programs and projects to execute on the overall TELUS security mandate Be trusted advisor by providing objective, practical and relevant insights and advice across the various TELUS security infrastructure, platforms and applications Establish cyber security business cases and define saving or cost prevention opportunities
  • As a Project & Resource Manager, you will : Provide project coordination and management support including prioritizing resourcing needs for competing projects based on business priorities Plan and manage capital and operating expenses budget for the team

  • Knowledge of cyber security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection and protection system, email security, web Security, DDoS prevention, wireless security, identity and access management (IAM) systems, 2FA, certificate and key management, HSM, monitoring tools, cloud security
  • Cloud experience Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies & network functions virtualization (NFV)
  • Understanding of telecommunications (wireless and wireline), and information technology (IT), data center environments
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation
  • Professional security certifications : Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), SANS
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering, or Computer Science, or related disciplines
