Manages HR / LR function for the 4 joint venture partners involved in Site C, GSS Civil Works Project in Fort St. John, BC.
What you will be doing
Works closely with joint venture business leaders and segment managers to forecast resourcing needs, to support overall project goals.
Manages HR and Travel teams for successful dispatch, onboarding and orientation of all craft new hires. Coordinates and allocates all staff new hires with joint venture partner human resources departments.
Maintains relationships with all signatory union business agents and shop stewards.
Assists project executives with annual union and collective bargaining discussions, interpretations and agreements.
Investigates employee relations inquiries and issues using prescribed project processes and with the support and guidance of the project executive team and legal compliance
Conducts exit interviews for all separated employees using project processes and interview collection
Liaison with Customer LR representatives and with site and camp security for labour and security issues for joint venture and subcontractor employees on site
Responsible for monthly Workforce Reports and bi-annual local housing survey reports with Customer
Support published corporate
Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
Participate in strategic planning initiatives and ensuring that the strategic plan for Human
Resources department aligns with the respective project business plan and overall goals / direction of the joint venture organization.
Establishes and reinforces all joint venture project policies
Maintains knowledge of Company values and strategic plan.
Support published corporate policies.
What we are looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field required.
7+ years’ experience required.
Construction industry or related industry experience required.
Project Management experience preferred.
Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR), Global Professional of Human Resources (GPHR), Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) certifications preferred
Valid Driver’s License
Proven strategic leadership and project management skills required.
Able to build relationships with internal and external business contacts required.
Able to influence with or without authority at all levels of the business.
Strong time-management skills required. Able to maintain professional composure under tight deadlines or sensitive situations.
Advanced employment law and HR compliance knowledge required.
Developing critical-thinking and analytical skills.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
Able to maintain confidentiality over employment records, inquiries, medical information, investigations and other employment related items required.
Able to identify talent strengths and growth opportunities in direct reports and provide development opportunities to encourage team growth.
