The Accident Benefits Representative I contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of first party small injury claims falling under relevant legislation.
Provide exceptional customer service
Interpret policy wordings, determines policy coverage and ensure appropriate reserving
Investigate and manage first party injury claims by telephone and correspondence
Coordinate services with vendors and service providers
Prepares files for arbitration or litigation
Liaise with claimants, doctors and rehabilitation specialists
Collaborate with customers, representatives, health care providers, employers and other resources to develop a RTW plan that includes all of the necessary activities to achieve a timely and sustainable return to work.
Adjust claims from inception to completion in a proactive manner
Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system
Perform other duties as assigned
1 year insurance experience
Working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Effective customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers
Understanding of return to work practices
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Strong investigative and analytical skills
Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
Strong negotiation skills
College / University degree is preferred
