The Senior Manager Platforms is the primary liaison with IT and preferred vendor partners (e.g. DXC, TCS, Oracle, PFS) for business applications on all new development and major enhancements and works closely with other Aviva IT and business teams as appropriate to gather business requirements and oversee the technical development and support.

In addition will liaise with Business Leadership teams to understand the Business vision and strategy, ensuring technology alignment

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accountable for the production support operations (BAU) of the Shared Services group as part of Business Solutions Delivery
  • Provide technology input in leading and shaping the Shared Services Strategy, ensuring alignment with Aviva Business Strategy and Aviva group standards
  • Responsible for the technology implementation of the Shared Services Strategy
  • Accountable for the technology deliverables of Shared Services initiatives (both tactical and strategic)
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the Shared Services Technology Roadmap
  • Accountable for ensuring that proper processes and governance is established and followed for new platforms and the production support operations
  • Accountable for ensuring adherence to governance, standards and best practices aligned with Aviva’s Software Engineering (SE) and DevOps guidelines.
  • Ensure that all Shared Services and associated applications have adequate controls and manage security and vulnerability program across Shared Services group
  • Manage vendor relationships related BAU and project activities
  • Applications / services include Cloud, Security, Middleware technologies as well as core web applications shared across the organization.
  • Accountable for key upgrades and security alignment initiatives for Shared Services
  • Systems Strategy and Change Portfolio

  • Provide technology input in leading and shaping the Shared Services Strategy
  • Collaborate with the IT and Business Leadership teams to understand the Business vision and strategy
  • Establish and update the Technology Roadmap to support the Business vision and strategy
  • Represent the Shared Services Technology Roadmap at appropriate Architecture forums and ensure compliance with Aviva group standards
  • Engage and collaborate with trusted vendor partners on the development of the Technology Roadmap
  • Plan and manage the implementation of technology initiatives related to the Shared Services Strategy
  • Plan and manage the implementation of Changes related to security, middleware, and platform technology
  • Explore opportunities for investment optimization in the Shared Services portfolio
  • Lead (or support, as appropriate) the preparation of Business Cases for progressing the Shared Services Strategy
  • Shared Services Support

  • Accountable for managing all aspects of the system support operations in alignment with Aviva standards and within SLAs
  • Oversight and management of platform administration for shared services
  • Accountable for ensuring that proper processes and governance is established, documented and followed for development and support operations
  • Manage outsourced support relationships with vendors
  • Manage budget for Shared Services operations and support
  • Evaluate financial information requirements from the business units and ensure on-going communication with the business to ensure needs are met
  • Collaborate with the stakeholders ensure that SLAs are consistently met
  • Coordinate documentation (scope of work, business analysis, technical documentation, testing plans, and reports) maintaining adherence to established standards and ensuring that the documentation is kept current
  • Standardize business terms and data dictionary (maintaining metadata) for all department applications, collaborating with the Data Governance team
  • Ensure that disaster recovery and business continuity plans are maintained for all applications and processes
  • Ensure that effective controls are in place in all applications for data validation and reconciliation
  • Management security vulnerabilities and controls for applications and technology platforms for Shared Services
  • Oversee support of the on-going financial planning activities (monthly / annually)
  • Enhance the production support operating model as appropriate and ensure documentation of this model is kept current with upgrades and new technology stacks
  • Accountable for ensuring adherence to Aviva change and release management processes and controls
  • Accountable for ensuring adherence to IT Controls standards, requirements and processes
  • Participate as appropriate in the Systems Change Control Board, providing input into the prioritization, costs and timelines associated with changes
  • Support audit requests and activities
  • People Management

  • Direct reports include System Analysts, Business Analysts and TCS vendor resources (onshore and offshore)
  • Lead, coach and motivate members of the Shared Services team
  • Responsible for the performance management and development of the Shared Services team
  • Champion the one team philosophy, ensuring that the Aviva resources and vendor resources collaborate as one team
  • Security and Controls Management

  • Accountable for remediation of vulnerabilities
  • Compliance of security standards and best practices across Shared Services
  • Support and lead projects initiated by information security
  • Drive solutions to address application and service challenges for upgrades, prevention of security threats, and software currency
  • REQUIREMENTS

    Experience, Skills and Education

  • 10+ years in leadership / management role, with strong strategic thinking skill
  • Excellent analytical skills, problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with the middleware technologies (eg. Fuse, WMB, MQ, etc)
  • Experience with security platforms and technologies including SSO, Datapower
  • Experience with web technology platform stacks for Cloud and on-prem
  • Experience within DevOps environments utilizing Ansible, Jenkins, Python
  • Experience managing regular software upgrades that mitigate system vulnerabilities and software currency
  • Strong coaching / mentoring skills with senior staff
  • Good project management skills, ability to manage complexity, identify integration points
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentation / meetings
  • Vendor Management - mandatory
  • Good understanding of shared services in an Enterprise environment
  • Solid experience with platform administration and change mandatory
  • Solid experience with Agile development and support
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience in delivering large systems transformation initiatives
  • Nice to have : Insurance industry, financial services, or other finance function experience
  • Education Required

  • University Degree related to Computer Science or Engineering
