Job Summary

Husky is currently looking for a Director, Continuous Improvement and Quality Management, to join the Safety, Operations Integrity & Environment department at their Calgary, AB location.

The Director, Continuous Improvement (CI) and Quality Management (QM) will be responsible for developing and implementing overall Continuous Improvement and Quality Management strategy for Husky.

This will include defining the standards, curricula, and competency framework, reviewing and aligning various improvement initiatives to a Husky standard, supporting employee development, planning strategic program initiatives, and managing stakeholder relationships.

The candidate will work with colleagues across Husky to raise the profile of CI and QM, developing Husky internal capabilities, building awareness and understanding for their impact on safety and reliable operations.

The candidate will demonstrate the need and benefits of systematic and structure approach to CI and QM.

This role will utilize leadership, influence, operations experience and communication abilities to work with other Safety, Operations Integrity and Environmental (SOI&E) team members and all levels of site team members in embedding CI and QM as the way we work in Husky.

The candidate will have a good understanding of business functions, good communication skills, good interpersonal skills, be a strong strategic thinker, and great organizational skills.

The Director will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to address barriers impacting progress and business goals. It is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow with an innovative team and to gain knowledge of Husky's integrated operations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing corporate wide Continuous Improvement strategy, including standards, capability development plan, and performance measurements
  • Deliver and lead the management of Quality management program that continually elevate the highest quality standards based on regulatory and business requirements.
  • Measure and report performance

  • Managing stakeholder engagements with strong project management capabilities for effective prioritization, management of time, and escalation of issues when appropriate
  • Developing and maintaining effective partnerships with key capabilities across Husky
  • Monitor and analyze the strategies, policies and best practices within oil and gas and other high hazardous industries
  • Experience

  • 15+ years track record in leading and delivering CI strategy and programs based on Lean Six Sigma methodology
  • 15+ years of experience in effectively developing, influencing, and successfully executing significant change initiatives
  • 10+ years of experience in developing quality plans, implementation of quality tools (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, process capability analysis) and best practices
  • Experience in conducting Quality Management Systems audits
  • Excellent understanding of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Quality Planning and Total Quality Management
  • Minimum of 15+ years working in the oil and gas industry or a relevant field
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience working with and coordinating multiple stakeholders and ability to establish trust and rapport with people
  • Proven Oil and Gas CI and / or QM experience in implementing processes, standards, procedures, and capability development program
  • Education, Professional Designations, Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or business is considered an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification required
  • Qualification in Quality Management is considered an asset
  • Working Conditions
