Do you have experience in building custom automated equipment? If you love the challenge of putting specialized equipment together and are an expert problem solver, this job could be right for you.
Read and interpret blueprints, operation and product related reference charts and tables, and select mechanical measuring, checking, and layout tools and devices.
Perform metal removing operations using hand and power tools, as well as select work piece clamping, holding devices, and product related components.
Set up and operate, to prescribed tolerances, equipment (e.g. lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drills, saws, and boring machines) for the manufacturing of machine tooling.
Fit and assemble parts and sub-assemblies to build special-purpose machinery.
Integrate pneumatic and hydraulic systems into special-purpose machinery.
Proceed with floor assembly according to design; assembling the machinery in a safe and proper order.
Coordinate with the Electrician, Fabricator, and PLC Programmer to provide for their needs, in a timely manner. Advise designers of any floor assembly design problems, coordinating work if required.
Provide mechanical support during debug, integration, and machine acceptance.
Participate as lead person in the debug / integration of the machine or station startup. Completing the set up checks of stations before PLC Programmers are scheduled to be on the station.
Check to see if cycle times are achievable; and advising the designers.
Be an ambassador for TCA at the customers' site, providing a quick and efficient installation of the equipment. Follow all safety procedures according to TCA Health and Safety policies in addition to any on site Health and Safety procedures.
Reassemble equipment to the point of buy-off at customer's site. Train maintenance and operators on running equipment and following safety procedures.
Develop TCA manufacturing standards, in conjunction with the Assembly Team Lead, according to machine building 'best practices'.
Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; and make adjustments if necessary.
Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine tools and hand tools.
Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, bill of materials, machine-tool build assembly drawings.
Assemble and integrate pneumatics and hydraulics, electrical components, power transmission systems, conveyor systems and feeder systems.
Sub-assemble machine tool components.
Maintain company confidentiality.
Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes.
Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Working conditions are normal for an office environment with travel required.
Work requires weekend and / or evening work.
Must be flexible and aggressive in adapting to business changes.
Will be required to communicate with all departments personnel after build project completion to review entirely of projects and to develop ever evolving changes in product concept design.
Five years heavy machinery assembly or millwright experience, preferably with machining skills and mechanical apprenticeship.
Able to use measuring instruments, crane, forklift as required.
Ability to read drawings and communicate problems to Assembly Team Leader.
Must be able to occasionally travel and work evenings / weekends as required.
Good oral and written communication skills. Must exhibit professional and courteous communication / interaction in any environment and under any circumstances with Customers, Vendors, Engineers, Technicians, and other team members.
Strong organizational skills and a high level of self motivation.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively within a multi-discipline environment.
Able to independently complete all specific responsibilities with little to moderate supervision.
Candidates must have a valid passport and drivers license with which to travel seamlessly through Canada, the USA, Mexico, Europe, and China.
