The Materials and Planning Manager will lead the day to day demand & production planning, material planning, purchasing, inventory control and warehouse activities.
The successful candidate will work directly with the production, shipping, quality, engineering, customer service and sourcing to ensure on time delivery of quality goods to customers.
This is a fast-paced job with many variables in which you will be constantly reviewing and working with (internal and external) senior leadership team.
Mentor, supervise and manage the planning, purchasing and warehouse team
Develop and manage master demanding planning, production planning and material planning to : Meet demands and manage expectations of internal teams and external customersOptimize production resources (including material purchases) and adaptive delivery schedulesMinimize floor stock inventory based on part demand history and production forecasts
Lead production scheduling meetings for capacity and material review
Ensure all purchasing is in compliance with regulations and laws related to purchasing practices and in accordance with Norsat standard practices
Place purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of parts and components to meet production schedule
Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and on time delivery
Expedite outstanding purchase orders to ensure delivery requirements are met
Working closely with accounting team for any discrepancies or issues with use of GL codes, sales order fulfillment issues, invoicing, credit issuing and inventory adjustments
In charge of set up BOM cost and maintain its accuracy & refresh the latest quotation. To figure out the discrepancies.
Keep the Country of Origin of parts / components and finished goods be up-to-dated.
Responsible for creating and refining processes in monthly inventory cycle counting and year-end inventory counting
Responsible for coordinating the count of monthly inventory cycle counting and year-end inventory counting
Improve inventory accuracy including warehouse management, job kitting, and introduction of barcoding
Develop and refine ERP / MRP processes
Maintaining a well-organized, safe and clean warehouse for efficient operations
Identify, analyze, and manage potential and actual issues and risks, take corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues
Responsible for internal and external customer support for emergencies and Out of Services
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in supply chain / business
5-7 years' experience in material / production planning and inventory control preferred
3+ years of supervision experience related to planning and inventory control
Exposure to low volume / high mix and fast-paced manufacturing environment
Proficiency or exposure to manufacturing ERP system (preferably MS Dynamics Navisionâ€™s - functions such as creating BOMs, routings, inventory control, MRP, and barcoding
Candidates working towards APICS CPIM certification will be an asset
Must have working knowledge of import / export regulations (e.g. Tariff Classification; Commercial Invoice, B13, etc.) and carrier management
