Work environment

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process

This inventory will be used to staff positions at the AS-02 group and level within Parks Canada Agency with employment tenures, language profiles, security requirements, conditions of employment and work locations that will vary depending on the needs of the positions being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)


A secondary school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training AND / OR experience.


  • EXP1 : Experience in co-ordinating administrative services*;
  • EXP2 : Experience in interacting with internal OR external stakeholders;
  • EXP3 : Experience using word processing (e.g. Word) AND spreadsheet software programs (e.g. Excel).

  • Coordination of administrative services is defined as, but not limited to : the collection and consolidation of information for the production of various reports, coordination of document approval, planning and coordination of meetings, drafting Minutes, monitoring expenses and maintaining a budget, managing schedules and emails and other related duties.
  • If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)


    A post-secondary school diploma in a field relevant to the position being staffed.


  • AEXP1 : Experience in the provision of human resources support services;
  • AEXP2 : Experience using a Human Resources information management system (eg. PeopleSoft 8.9 or greater);
  • AEXP3 : Experience using an information management AND tracking system (eg. ccmEnterprise, ccmMercury, GCDocs, RDIMS, etc.);
  • AEXP4 : Experience in dealing with senior officials (i.e. Director or above) within the federal government;
  • AEXP5 : Experience in drafting, editing, formatting AND / OR revising correspondence OR reports;
  • AEXP6 : Experience in using SAP AND / OR SFT;
  • AEXP7 : Experience in providing advice to managers within the federal government on finance AND travel;
  • AEXP8 : Experience in providing budget AND financial support services;
  • AEXP9 : Experience working in the regional pay system;
  • AEXP10 : Experience working in Phoenix;
  • AEXP11 : Experience with compensations AND benefits;
  • AEXP12 : Experience in at least one of the following areas :

  • o Experience in providing training to end-users of computer applications;
  • o Experience in providing Help Desk type services relating to computer applications AND / OR systems;
  • o Experience in applying quality assurance techniques AND in performing functional testing in an HR system context.

    You may be assessed using one or more of the following tools : written exams, interview, reference check, and other assessment tools.

    Candidates from outside the Federal Public Service will be required to pay for their own travel expenses for various phases of testing / assessment.

    Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language of their choice.

    Applicants must clearly demonstrate in the screening questions how they meet the Education and Experience criteria listed in the Statement of Qualifications (see below).

    Applicants must list both of these factors in the screening questions, and then write one or two paragraphs for each demonstrating how they meet these factors by providing concrete examples.

    Please note that it is not sufficient to only state that these factors are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities.

    Resumes will be used as a secondary source to validate the experience described in the screening questions.

    Failure to clearly demonstrate in your screening questions how you meet the Education and Experience factors found on the Statement of Qualifications (see below), may result in the rejection of your application.

    Normally, applicants will not be solicited for incomplete or possible missing information.
