ABOUT the job

Our client, a family business established in Saint-Laurent for more than 50 years, specializes in the custom design of product identification solutions and branded packaging solutions.

They are looking for a Technical Director with experience in automation. The candidate will carry out all of the responsibilities related to planning, organization, management and control of the activities and resources of the technical sector (after-sales service) of the products and automated systems sold by the company.

This department offers a full range of related and complementary products and services. The Technical Director will be the immediate supervisor of 3 technicians in after-sales service and will regularly support the Sales Director and the Production Director in the technical aspects of their work.

The candidate will replace the current Technical Director who is retiring.


After-sales service management :

  • Establish operational objectives, planning, organizing, directing, controlling and optimizing human, financial and material resources (equipment, inventories) of the sector in accordance with the policies, standards, regulations in force in the organization
  • Ensure the maintenance of IMS high level of expertise in automated solutions
  • Implement policies, projects, plans and programs in the sector according to the objectives of the service
  • Promote, through actions and decisions, a customer approach, a corporate vision as well as a participative management focused on continuous improvement and results
  • Relationship with suppliers :

  • Work closely with suppliers to promote the relevant improvement of their customer products
  • Keep an eye on products, applicators and automated systems to identify solutions, read publications, be in contact with current and potential suppliers
  • Evaluate potential supplier products to decide on the cus tomer offer
  • Ensure the transfer of knowledge from suppliers to company resources in order to provide internal expertise in sales and technical support, among other things by setting up training plans
  • Clients :

  • Effectively solve technical problems encountered with the automated systems sold to our customers
  • Prepare bids for automated systems, manage projects until their implementation at the customer's site and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Ensure the quality of the services offered by the personnel of the sector, establish work processes aimed at improving and monitoring customer satisfaction
  • Maximize the number of hours billed, minimize the number of reminders and measure customer satisfaction
  • Support the technicians when they encounter major technical difficulties with customers

  • University training in electrical engineering and management training
  • Significant technical knowledge : electronics, electrical engineering, mechanics, pneumatics, equipment and design
  • Relevant work experience : minimum of 5 years in a similar field (automated equipment and electronic card)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industry products and services and serving customers
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience
  • Good knowledge of Windows, Office 365, and communication to peripherals environments
  • Bilingual : communication in French and English, spoken and written, advanced level
  • Knowledge of professional printers - an asset
