Required Skills

The Team Lead will interface with business areas, senior management and system users to define, design, and implement business reporting and dashboard solutions.

This position will focus on designing and leading the creation of reports and dashboards that are effective for all-levels of management from operational to executive levels.

This person will also be guiding the effective modelling and creation of relevant dimensions and cubes for business reporting to drive business-level insights.

They will manage a team of analysts and developers who facilitate business intelligence processes and procedures development and implementation.

Identifies, researches, and resolves complex technical problems. Manages our offshore support team to maintain a stable and highly available service.

What you’ll be doing :

Business Consultation & Requirements Generation (15%)

  • Work closely with the business to analyze requirements to produce reports that are beneficial and valuable for analytics
  • Understand the Enterprise Data Model effectively to interact with business users and recommend meaningful approaches to visualize the information they are looking for
  • Provide leadership in projects to ensure business is aware of data quality and availability to generate the reports and dashboard they need to manage their line of business
  • Collect business-level questions and propose approaches to address business needs and provide data insights
  • Expand documentation and knowledge of business processes relative to available data to provide contextual guidance for operation / project reporting and insights generation
  • BI & Data Warehouse Design and Development Oversight (45%)

  • Work with Project Managers to effectively deliver large Business Intelligence or Data Warehouse initiatives
  • Work with Director of BI / DW to research and develop an Enterprise wide Strategy and Architecture
  • Provide guidance to business and BI report developers on how to best design reports and dashboards for end-user consumption
  • Establish best practices and standards for reporting and dashboard creation at IMAX
  • Conduct design review sessions and periodic audits of production visualizations to standardize applications
  • Validate information generated within reports and dashboards that are developed by the BI team
  • Ensure integrity of information is maintained post-implementation by periodic audits of reports in production
  • Mentorship and Training (25%)

  • Provide training to the business users related to general use of the Reporting and Visualizations tools
  • Ensure self-service capabilities are known by end-users and monitor adoption by business
  • Develop and maintain a training program; manage new trainers for new functionalities
  • Help develop skills training programs for BI members in the domain of visualization & dashboarding

    Support (15%)

  • Oversight of offshore support team for SAP BI / BW support for technical issues and interpretation of report, dashboard and query content
  • Identify, document, resolve and escalate issues as required
  • What we’re looking for :

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Analytics, Computer Science, related field, or have equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience implementing and designing large data repos, structured and unstructured, supporting numerous data sources and data consumers
  • Continuing education / certification may be preferred (Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse management, Data Management etc.)
  • Experienced in both Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse / Lake platform Development / Management
  • Experienced leading a team of BI & Data Warehouse analyst and developers (Team lead or Manager)
  • Proficient in translating business requirements into technical report or extract deliverables
  • Experienced working with support teams to resolve challenges
  • Financial and accounting knowledge / experience an asset
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Data Modelling and Data Catalogue management
  • Experience in cloud ETL / ELT and Data Warehouse platforms is a must
  • Experience with visualization layers such as SAP Bobj, Tableau or Looker
  • Experience with Data Warehouse Technology’s, such as SAP BW, Snowflake or Redshift
  • Experienced in Data Warehouse / Lake best practices for structure and unstructured data
