WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR?

The Manager of Store Systems is responsible for managing and directing staff in the planning, development and maintenance of the Roots’s Store Systems (POS, traffic software, Tlog troubleshooting, store internet)

To be successful, you’ll need to possess :

  • University degree in business or applied computer science with a minimum of 5 years experience in supporting retail stores
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working with multiple project teams that include users, outside vendors and consultants.
  • Experienced with managing these projects according to agreed budget and time constraints.

  • Excellent time management
  • Experienced with formal project management methodologies and tools.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in POS upgrades and enhancements, OS and software patching and deployment methodologies
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with software methodology methods such as Agile and Scrum
  • Excellent communication skills

    Field retail experience would be an asset

  • Supervises the work of Store Systems staff by facilitating and tracking project status; identifying problems and issues;
  • allocating appropriate resources; and ensuring that support services are completed on schedule and at the highest levels of quality.

    Assists staff in the delivery of technical services as necessary and appropriate

  • Collaborate on highly complex issue resolution with Retail Operations, Merchandising, Finance, HR, Logistics and Loss Prevention teams to name a few, in order to deliver solutions that enable such teams to be more productive
  • Administers the Store Systems budget and assists in the preparation of the IT operating and project budgets; forecasts additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies;
  • monitors and reports expenditures, reports budget variances

  • Plans and manages assigned projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget, manages and directs the work of contractors and vendors.
  • Ensures all applications and systems have the reliability, robustness, and scalability needed to enable and support continued growth, while at the same time ensuring applications make efficient and cost effective use of available infrastructure.
  • Serves as a key resource on selection or decision making processes as well as influences senior management to adopt new ideas, products, and / or approaches that will benefit the company
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement through automation, develop actionable plans and work with other IT teams and third party providers to implement process changes
  • Collaborate with business leaders to gain an understanding of their needs, defining their requirements, and continuously adding value including making their processes more effective and efficient, while building upon the strategic vision of the company
  • Identify and evaluate industry trends to serve as a source of information and advice for future projects
  • Serves as an expert, leader and mentor within the StoreSystems area
  • Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
  • Serves as a key resource on selection or decision making processes
  • Ensures process documentation is kept up to date

  • Monitors and manages critical patches for software applications
  • Interacts with other departments in the IT team as well as with external parties to ensure the efficient utilization of technology and communications required to support both internal and external customers

    Responsible for end user support and training for all Store Systems Applications
