    We are looking for a who will be managing staff; equipment and resources; camp movement; camp maintenance; HSEC risks and budget.

    Reporting to the Regional Superintendent, you will :

  • Manage camp risks including hygiene, hydrocarbon storage and hazardous materials by providing HSEC leadership and manage contractors in order to comply with Rio Tinto HSEC standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements;
  • Manage OS staff including apportionment of tasks, compiling Job Descriptions, hiring, pay, discipline and performance management;
  • Managing equipment and resources including stock management, re-supply and transport from the resupply base and contractual issues concerning any locally contracted work;
  • Train and manage the induction of exploration personnel;
  • Managing camp movement, camp maintenance and customs clearance for imported goods;
  • Management and maintenance of all project equipment through equipment husbandry, using internal resources or outsourcing as required and overseeing the storage of equipment to ensure an efficient and effective equipment management system is in place with full use of inventories where required

    Managing project-related budgets and assist with the cost effective procurement of equipment, meeting Rio Tinto compliancy measures

    Ensure that exploration data and documents are properly managed throughout the discovery pipeline and that the most updated and complete versions are stored within an accessible and secure infrastructure

    Lead the team / individuals through change by understanding the principles and impact of that change, and acting accordingly.

    Collaborate with Geoscientists and field personnel to help resolve technical and operational challenges related to OS system implementation

    Collaborate with Project Managers and Exploration Managers in advising on the challenges by contributing, participating and influencing project planning, conducting risk assessments and providing feedback in order to ensure the OS plan is met and risks are mitigated.

    About you

    To succeed in this role, you will have :

  • Graduate in a related OS field or equivalent (preferable) or prior professional experience in a similar role;
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience of which 2 years preferably are in the resource sector in a field / operational role;
  • Driver’s license required;
  • Proven experience in managing camps and teams in local conditions;
  • Experience of operating in arduous conditions and / or in remote sites;
  • Experience of working in a multicultural environment;
  • Experience of managing teams in remote locations;
  • Experience of working with local official;
  • Awareness of exploration practices in order to be able to make informed judgments and give sound advice on OS issues and practical solutions;
  • Broad understanding of OS issues in order to advise staff or call in experts where necessary;
  • Proficient in systems implementation and management;
  • Building local capacity in the workforce, e.g. selecting, training and coaching staff.
