Our client, a sizable and high growth Wealth and Asset Manager, is seeking an experienced and innovative individual to lead their operations function.
Reporting to the senior executive, this role will oversee the daily operations of the firm as well as take a leadership role in the development of the process, controls and infrastructure necessary to support its continued growth.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned investment operations professional with at least 10 years' experience working in a complex trading or buy-
side environment to take on a high visible and deeply impactful role in a premier Canadian firm. Exposure to complex products including cleared and non-
cleared derivatives and synthetics is an asset.
Responsibilities Lead an operations team responsible for oversight of the trade affirmation and settlements process (including OTC swaps / derivatives), ICE and CME settlements and processing corporate actions, and ISDA monitoring and reporting (lines and security types)
Undertake internal and external stakeholders to develop a business plan focused on process improvements to sophisticate and grow the operational infrastructure of the firm
Develop back-testing programs and recommend amendments to the valuation policy to the Valuation Committee. Assisting the CFO with month-end portfolio valuation.
Maintain a working knowledge of the firmâ€™s trading system, trading counterparties, approved markets and security types, clearing counterparties, which will include a method for approving and monitoring such counterparties
Participate in the QA and testing programs for internally-developed automated trading algorithms
Evaluate and improve the firm's cash settlement process, including the development of an automated process to move cash among the firm's brokers
Work to sophisticate the expense allocation process for the funds
Maintain commission sharing arrangements and monitor soft dollar expense approvals, monitoring, and reporting
Manage the firm's investor and regulatory portfolio reporting obligations
Work with sales / marketing / investor relations to maintain the firm's investor portal
Assisting in service provider engagement and undertake trading application authorizations and monitoring
Qualifications 10 plus years in investment industry, at least five years in a daily operations role and experience establishing processes and control (buy side experience preferred)
Advanced knowledge of excel, portfolio pricing to an established valuation policy, trade affirmation and settlement (include OTC transactions) and process or supervise corporate actions
Strong communication skills (written and oral)
