The Position

  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls the purchasing activities of Henry Schein Canada Inc. for all dental merchandising purchasing.
  • Develops purchasing policies and procedures and controls purchasing department budget.
  • Develops strategies to manage inventory levels to budget to support Working Capital budgets. Collaborate with Financial Inventory to set and manage inventory budget.
  • Evaluate cost and quality of goods or services and ensures we are getting the absolute lowest cost on all items, purchases, including negotiation of purchase contracts and management / oversight to cost recovery that impact Gross Margins.
  • Involvement in the interviewing, hiring process, and development of TSMs, leading with a management style that supports the company Mission and Values.
  • Responsible for maintaining all Inventory Control data (codes), including accurate costing, and product recovery processes.
  • Responsible for keeping inventory levels as low as possible while maintaining the highest fill rates as possible.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate inventories in all D.C.’s to support Dental / Technical flyer featured products and to support various sales activities.
  • Participate in rebate negotiations and manage Supplier relationships / activities.

    The Candidate

    You have a post-secondary education in business, commerce or economics, complimented by seven to ten years’ of previous management experience.

    A PMAC certification is an asset. You have knowledge of a variety of inventory systems including JD Edwards and AS400. You can provide direction and leadership to others, and are recognized as a knowledgeable expert in your field.

    You can easily multi-task and prioritize, working well under pressure as required. You have intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

    You have exceptional leadership / management skills that compliment your ability to connect and help drive the work of the business, being mindful of company values.
