Reporting to the President of the Region, the Business Development Manager will be responsible to identify and drive opportunities for strategic growth of the business in Western Canada and the US Pacific Northwest.
Whether this growth is at existing facilities, greenfield sites or through the acquisition of facilities and assets from another company, this position will identify these opportunities and see them progress from start to finish.
With a clear focus on improving Lehigh Hanson’s market position and achieving financial growth, the Business Development Manager will : define business development plans, build key relationships, assess, negotiate and close business deals, and maintain extensive knowledge of market opportunities
What you will get to do :
Lead the investigation and evaluation of potential business opportunities and execute strategic projects to drive sustainable profit.
Gather market intelligence and foster key relationships with stakeholders including managers, customers, suppliers, industry associations, governmental agencies, and other sources of information regarding potential growth opportunities for the business.
As opportunities present themselves, assess, prioritize, and organize the efforts and resources to identify scope, timeline, required resources and execution plans for the development of the business.
Provide ongoing analyses of the economic, demographic, political and competitive landscapes for current and potential markets.
Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities
Direct due diligence teams in reviewing all aspects of proposed deals.
Lead project teams and coordinate functional expertise as assigned by senior management.
Build and manage strong relationships and trust across and outside the Company including potential investment targets, internal management, government, industry, and community leaders to the benefit of the reputation, effectiveness, and impact of Lehigh Hanson Canada
Business Development includes, but is not limited to : acquisition targets, greenfield / brownfield aggregate reserves, distribution network opportunities, joint ventures, swaps, divestitures, and other capital projects in line with the Company’s strategic goals.
Essential Experience & Skills
University degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is strongly preferred.
Ten plus years of experience in construction materials or a related market.
Strong project management, financial acumen, and analytical skills.
Working knowledge of the heavy building materials industry in Canada and the Northwestern United States.
Outstanding verbal and written communication, and networking skills.
Strong negotiation and influencing ability.
Ability to travel in Canada and the US
Work Environment :
Role operates primarily a professional office environment, but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels
