  • Post Secondary Education in a Chemical or Related Discipline with 5-7 years of experience leading people
  • Knowledge of engineering or chemical technology with process improvement and optimization experience, business management experience, cost accounting and labour relations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, communication and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and passion to develop people.
  • Experience with day rotation positions. Must be able to guide a team for structured problem analysing and problem solving.
  • Must be able to find the root-cause instead of jumping to conclusions.

  • Must be able to think out of the box and share the ideas with others
  • Be able to work in a multi-cultural environment with strong interactions as well within the region as within the BL- world-wide.
  • Drives, initiates and makes decisions regarding organizational, technical and personnel issues.
  • Must be able to re- / act under high pressure and give guidance to his subordinates
  • The Site Manager leads the entire organization. The incumbent ensures all operations are performed safety and within the environmental and legal requirements imposed by local, provincial and federal regulations.

    The position demonstrates effective people management and control of operations with respect to labor, raw materials, equipment, process and finished products in order to produce with optimum efficiency and safety, the required quantities and quality for all products.

    This position provides a link to sister plants, sales / customer service, product management, process technology, and research.

    Other roles include leading the site management team, employee development and implementation of continuous improvement ideas.

    Responsibilities :

  • Ensure compliance with the plant's permit as well as all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
  • Ensure the safety and health of all employees and contractors working in the plant as well as the protection of the environment.
  • Encourage and ensure TPM success and improvement
  • Maintain ISO and standards and certifications.
  • Ensure the quality of products produced and shipped from the plant meet agreed upon customer expectations and specifications.
  • Ensure new product or product modification implementations meet the timing and quality as agreed upon with the technical and commercial groups.
  • Manage inventory levels to meet prescribed targets.
  • Develop goals and objectives for the plant to ensure improvements in productivity and cost position. Manages and resources the organization to achieve set goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that the goals support the business goals of Evonik Oil Additives.

  • Personnel development and succession planning together with Vice President of Production & Technology
  • Negotiate the operating and capital spending budget with the Vice President of Production & Technology
  • Manage and maintain plant manufacturing assets to meet above budgets and ensure long term plant operability, availability, and efficiency.
  • Manage labour relations at the plant with the support of the Vice President of Production & Technology and HR. Where applicable negotiate with workers representatives (union, association or worker committees).
  • Negotiate and manage service contracts with all service providers.
  • Network with other plant managers in Evonik Oil Additives as well as other industry leaders as applicable to improve operations and implement best practices.
  • Manage and continuously improve the EHS / Quality management systems for plant and issue policies as needed consistent with laws and regulations.
  • Where applicable ensure compliance of legal entity through management of board meetings, benefits, interaction with outside service providers including legal counsel, financial auditors and actuaries etc.
