Description

Reporting to the BC Brewing Lead, the Brewer is responsible for ensuring that all duties required to meet brewing, cellaring, filtration and packaging demands are being fulfilled, following standard operating procedures.

Documentation of wort / beer transfer / filtration and packaging records are accurate and up to date, will offer assistance in all areas of the brewery when needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and follow the brewing, filtration, cellaring and packaging schedules
  • Follow all SOP s while operating any equipment and / or tasks in the brewery
  • The brewer will be working in all areas of the brewery, this includes brewing, cellaring, filtering, packaging (bottles, kegs, casks, barrels) and any other area as required
  • Follow the proper safety precautions regarding use and handling of chemicals
  • Schedule the operation of some of the above duties and make adjustments as deemed appropriate
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as required
  • Strong understanding of all aspects and duties in each of the brewing areas
  • Follow the daily / weekly / monthly cleaning schedules and adhering to Best Brewing Practices
  • Qualifications

  • 3-7 years working brewery experience
  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma
  • Some courses completed in brewing preferred but not required
  • Strong leadership skills that support the corporate culture and build successful teams
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively and constructively
  • Ability to listen and provide feedback in a productive manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Punctual and excellent work attendance
  • Flexibility to fill in for any position
  • Regular lifting up to 25 kg’s
  • Safety equipment required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses / goggles, etc
  • Possible exposure to dangerous / hazardous materials
  • Required to work rotational shifts, including nights weekends and statutory holidays when and if needed
