Reports To : Regional Manager, Procurement

Division : ReStore Procurement

Terms of Employment : Full-time, Monday Friday (8 am 4 pm)

Salary : $16.50 / hr - $18 / hr based on experience

Habitat for Humanity GTA is looking for a full-time Delivery Driver to drive our trucks on a daily basis and support with picking up, dropping off, unloading, sorting, staging, and transporting donated items to our ReStore warehouse.

Under the supervision of the Regional Manager, Procurement, the Delivery Driver is an advocate of our organization and delivers exceptional customer service to our donors, volunteers, and stakeholders.

They communicate effectively and ensure a safe, and efficient work environment every day.

Our 12 locations across the GTA procure and sell new and used donated home furnishings, appliances, and renovation materials.

  • The Opportunity

  • Safely operate straight truck or truck (16ft-26ft) and mechanical lifting devices including manual pallet truck, hand truck, and dollies
  • Drive to and pick up donations, according to a predetermined route (i.e. homes, stores, corporate offices etc.) and drop-offs to sites (i.
  • e. ReStore and Habitat GTA Office locations within the GTA)

  • Adhere to legal driving standards and regulations
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to volunteers, donors and stakeholders
  • Complete pre and post-trip inspections of company vehicles and equipment (truck, forklift, shrink wrapper, pump trucks, dollies)
  • Prepare, pull and set up distribution of products to store
  • Assist with unloading large shipments in the warehouse
  • Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code
  • Identify safety hazards and complete daily and monthly health and safety inspections
  • What You Bring

  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Valid class G driver's license and a clean driver's abstract are required
  • Safety boots required : CSA approved safety footwear to be worn at all times
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) on a regular basis
  • Friendly and helpful demeanor
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively listen and provide directions
  • Enjoys dealing with the public and has excellent customer service skills
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Trustworthy and accountable
  • Punctual, reliable and has a good attendance record
  • Pickup & delivery, construction, or warehouse experience is considered an experience is an asset
