Job Description :
This position will be responsible for the design, development, timing and production release of a system / component within Fuels Systems : Filler pipes, Fuel lines, Tanks, Canisters.
Other responsibilities will include : quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management.
The Design Release Engineer will interact with suppliers and will work closely with internal and external groups such as testing and prototype labs, CAE engineers, vehicle program team, supplier operations and manufacturing plants.
The HVAC Release Engineer is responsible for the development and validation of the automotive HVAC unit and duct system.
The candidate will ensure the HVAC unit and duct meet performance objectives and will coordinate development with other functional areas such as IP, hard trim, BIW, Aero / Thermal, Engine Cooling, PDO and suppliers.
Duties will include writing source packages, specifications, requirements, change notices and overall supplier management to meet program timing and deliverables.
The candidate will maintain a component and sub-system DVP&R, support and keep up to date with component bench testing, simulation, drive-cell and static cell test results as well as perform data analysis and establish proper corrective actions as required.
Need to lead virtual team to design and perform CFD analysis of ducts that will meet airflow performance.
Candidate will also support pilot build process at the assembly plant for development and installation of HVAC components.
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering is required.
Proficiency in English (write, listen and speak) is a requirement.
Must be from an ABET accredited university / or equivalent. BSME preferred.
1 -3 years of design / development automotive engineering experience in Fuel Systems and / or UREA. Will consider an internship with Fuel Systems (UREA also considered) as part of that experience.
Self-starter with strong leadership, communication & organizational skills and demonstrated problem solving ability.
1-3 years in Fuel Systems is required. Prefer 3+ years of experience. Products : Filler pipes, Fuel lines, Tanks, Canisters.
Suppliers : Martinrea, Cooper, TI, Kautex, Yaap. UREA Tank experience and PHEV experience is helpful.
Preferred Requirements :
Extensive automotive experience is preferred. Product engineering experience preferred.
Prototype experience is preferred.
Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) preferred. Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) preferred.
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) preferred Belt certification preferred.
Solid understanding of system / component design preferred.
General understanding of NX, TeamCenter and CoDeP preferred.
Experience in the following areas would be beneficial : Formula SAE, Baja, or similar experience in college.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university.
1-5 years of experience in HVAC and duct design / development. Other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero-Thermal) also a plus.
Strong PC + MS Office skills required. Excellent written, verbal and listening skills along with strong interpersonal skills.
Self-starter and motivated to produce results.
Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
Basic thermodynamics knowledge.
Driving and Travel Requirements :
Will be required to drive a company car. A valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record.
Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
Computer Requirements :
CATIA V5 or Unigraphics NX
Siemens & Adobe products including Vis Mockup, TeamCenter and PDF's
Microsoft or Google Office Products
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in HVAC, PTC's, ducts and outlets are a plus.
Experience using CAD software (NX, Catia, etc.)
Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
Basic knowledge in Thermodynamics.
Automotive assembly plant experience.
