The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is a key member of the quality team responsible for all the aspects related to the supplier management system, compliance to Copy Exact requirements, improving supplier quality and optimizing the incoming inspection process.
The SQE works in close cooperation with the multi-disciplinary team composed of manufacturing, purchasing and engineering to achieve the highest level of supplier quality performance and to identify and mitigate risk.
oDrive immediate containment actions to avoid further impact to the product.
oLead the investigation and root cause analysis of all supplier’s non-conformances and ensure satisfactory resolution is achieved
oWork with suppliers to ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and quality issues are contained and resolved.
oOngoing monitoring to ensure components and sub-assemblies quality meet specifications.
oReviewing suppliers control plans and processes to ensure are fully implemented and effective
oDriving the supplier’s deviations or change requests according the internal process and to meet Copy Exact policies
oEffective deployment of the Copy Exact policy requirements to the supplier base to maintain the supplier database and scorecard to rank suppliers by performance, identify risk and drive supplier development.
oCommunicate the scorecard to suppliers monthly
oEvaluate new and existing part manufacturers for capability, capacity, quality systems and certifications, and assist purchasing with categorizing suppliers based on the defined criteria.
oDevelop and maintain the part qualification process for components and sub-assemblies.
oResponsible for the supplier performance and their quality throughout the process (in-coming, in process, final quality, customer complaints)
oConducting periodical reviews of supplier performance metrics, requesting action plans from the suppliers and validating the effective implementation of actions
oConducting regular audits to new and existing suppliers, where necessary, to validate compliance to their process, Photon drawings and specifications, and to ensure component and sub-assembly quality.
oCollaborate with purchasing and engineering to create and maintain the supplier risk assessment.
oLead the incoming inspection team to conduct effective and efficient evaluation of the components and sub-assemblies
oLead the material review board to identify the actions to correct process issues and improve product quality
oIdentify the necessary equipment, jigs or fixture required to properly evaluate the components / sub-assemblies and to improve inspection standard times.
oDefine the protocols to determine the required sampling based on the criticality of components / Sub-assemblies
oProvide feedback to the engineering team to optimize the component / sub-assembly drawings
oEnsuring supplier compliance with national or international standards, such as RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, WEEE, etc.
oParticipates in the development, implementation and maintenance of company and organization Quality Assurance policies and procedures
oEnsure compliance to the quality management system, while evaluating and promoting best practices to meet internal and external quality expectations
oPerforms other duties as required
oServes as internal auditor, carrying out audits of quality management system areas as required by the audit schedule
oIdentify opportunities for improvement in the incoming inspections process.
oMinimum a 5 years’ experience working in a supplier quality role in a manufacturing environment, preferably under the copy exact requirements.
oBachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred). Professional designation engineer will be an asset.
oPossess a successful record managing suppliers and achieving high levels of component and sub-assemblies’ quality and supplier performance.
oKnowledge of purchasing practices and procedures, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
oKnowledge of ISO 9001 and the proper implementation of industry practices in the supplier management process
oProficient of root cause analysis, supplier corrective and preventive actions
oKnowledge of manufacturing processes including fiber optics, surface finishing, machining, plating, injection molding, PCBA, electronic / semiconductor fabrication, etc.
oProficient statistical analysis, included but not limited to SPC, MSA, design of experiments, etc.
oProficient to read technical drawings / blueprints, specifications, bill of materials and CAD files.
oProficient in MS Office software products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
oExperience using MRP processes
oExperience leading a team in multiple projects.
oStrong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
oDemonstrate a good decision-making skill
oAbility to travel internationally
