Position Overview Reporting to the Manager, Talent Development, this position is responsible for building constructive relationships with key business partners, in particular Operations, to effectively provide employee development services, deliver experiential learning, and recommend development opportunities that raise the leadership capabilities of employees.

Responsibilities Build relationships with business partners (internal and external) to effectively provide employee and leadership development services to support talent development, succession planning, and organizational change.

Attend to requests from leaders regarding talent development; gather pertinent information to determine requirements. Explain development offerings and / or course information for established internal and external training programs including learning objectives and outcomes, pre-

requisite requirements, and follow up / sustainment options.

  • Facilitate leadership training sessions and programs where applicable; project manage and deliver various in-house development programs to employees and / or leaders;
  • recommend and deliver team building sessions, competency training and personality and development / aptitude programs. Facilitate the establishment of coaching / mentoring relationships as required to support employees in their professional and personal development.

    Collaborate with the talent development team and others; participate in the development of learning programs and related projects.

    Determine suitable approaches to the design and delivery of new development programs. Research and share best practices in the field of talent development.

    Provide support to HR, leaders, and others in the analysis and review of personal development plans; analyze trends and patterns and prepare summary recommendations to address gaps, etc.

    Utilize the HRIS to maintain employee development plans, profile information, and performance metrics; develop processes and procedures where necessary.

    Provide relevant development information. Follow up to ensure learning solutions are effectively implemented.

    Provide detailed input, feedback, and recommendations on the design, usability, rollout, and maintenance of the new Learning Management System to ensure seamless integration with existing HRIS platforms (i.

    e. Performance Management System) and automation in the planning and delivery of employee and leadership development programs and courses.

    Work with leaders to develop the bench strength in their departments, and to develop and prepare high potential employees for the next level of leadership.

    Assist managers with succession planning for key roles within their departments so that business priorities continue to be successfully met.

    Collaborate with HR leadership in the negotiation of vendor relationship for programs including content development, program materials, and related contractual commitments.

    Evaluate and hold vendors accountable to required performance standards.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as Business Administration or Human Resources from a recognized program plus a minimum of four (4) years related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    Certification in leadership courses, personality and development / aptitude testing or other related development tools.

    Technical Competencies

    Strong facilitation, presentation, and advisory skills

    Strong project management skills

    Knowledge of gas and electric operations, FortisBC standards, and employment legislation and regulation

    Knowledge of adult learning principles

    Knowledge of leadership development and change management

    Demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with all levels of the organization in order to support employee and leadership alignment with business goals

    Proven track record in delivering results

    Demonstrated ability to analyze data / information

    Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and difficult decisions
