Position Summary Centre for Students with Disabilities (CSD) Part TimeReporting to the Senior Manager, Centre for Students with Disabilities (CSD), the Assessment Invigilator is responsible for providing support to students with disabilities completing tests within the CSD testing areas.
The incumbent must ensure that the integrity of the testing environment is not compromised and the testing guidelines and policies of the CSD and College are strictly adhered to.
Successful applicants will work closely with CSD's Disability Assistant / Technicians (DAT). They will be called upon to assist in a number of tasks to ensure students can complete tests (including invigilation), have access to appropriate technology and can secure assistance from CSD Staff as required.
Additionally, applicants may be required to provide reception duty support for the CSD, Counselling and other departments within the office as needed.
Maintain testing integrity, ensuring fair and proper conduct is maintained in a strict testing environment that enables students with disabilities to complete testing with accommodations
Check and verify the authenticity of candidates’ ID documents before the testing
Ensure that no candidates enter the testing rooms with unapproved materials
Issue tests promptly and efficiently when testing commences
Oversee testing rooms ensuring testing integrity is maintained
Ensure that test answer forms are filled in correctly by students testing in the Centre
Collect completed tests papers, ensure all papers have been accounted for
Escort students from testing venues as required to obtain information (e.g. to class to ask questions pertaining to testing) and supervise students while escorting them outside testing areas
Refer student enquiries to the Disability Assistant / Technician (DAT) where appropriate
Learn new computer software for the purpose of administering tests
Complete reception duties including answering enquiries by students and faculty; providing departmental and College information and booking appointments with Counsellors, CSD staff and / or others as required
One to two years of general office experience or experience working with the public in a customer service role
Previous experience with assessment and test invigilating is an important asset
Previous experience with office / reception duties is considered an asset
High level of English proficiency to fully understand the CSD and College testing policies
Intermediate to excellent proficiency in computer use and computer programming knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot computer issues
Sensitivity and understanding related to disabilities including learning disabilities and mental health issues
Ability to communicate instructions, effectively and confidently to groups of students in a classroom / lab setting who may have communication difficulties (perhaps due to English being a second language or due to a disability)
Ability to multi-task and work well in a hectic and busy work environment
A thorough understanding and commitment to maintaining appropriate standards of confidentiality and security of materials
Strong attention to detail and ability to exercise good judgment and tact in high-pressure situations
Punctuality, reliability, dependability is mandatory and day / evening / weekend availability is required
Previous knowledge adaptive technology such as Kurzweil and Dragon Dictation is an important asset
Willingness and ability to travel to different campuses in Scarborough and East York
Salary Range $19.60 per hour
