    The First Cook is responsible for preparing a packed lunch for the skiing program each day, as well as preparing lunch for staff and guests at the lodge.

    The First Cook is a food-oriented individual dedicated to quality, creativity and consistency.

    This is a seasonal job opportunity. The CMH winter season runs from late-November until late-April.

    Daily rate of pay is based on an 11-hour day, worked as a split shift.

  • Prepare and package lunches for the field program and for the staff and guests remaining at the lodge
  • Participate in menu planning, ordering and receiving, as required
  • Provide special dietary meals for guests and staff, with direction from the chef
  • Attend all staff and department meetings, as required, including pre-service line-ups
  • Demonstrate tidy grooming and professional appearance
  • Safe and efficient food handling, knife handling, meal plating
  • Understand and maintain accurate kitchen stocking and dry storage rotation
  • Perform tasks in the kitchen related to dinner service and clean-up
  • Perform radio duty, as required, to support field operations
  • Willingness to assist other members of the lodge team, when needed
  • Follow safety procedures for all equipment and machines
  • QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Education :

  • Experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, preparing food, sauces, soups, lunches, etc.
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • A passion for cooking and the creative use of ingredients
  • Background in luxury hospitality or fine dining, preferred
  • This job is in a remote area of the BC wilderness. Employees are required to find their own way to and from the lodge or helicopter staging area.

    Work Environment :

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on the needs of the business
  • This position description is an overview of the scope of responsibilities for the role described above. With the evolution of CMH, the responsibilities of this position may change as may the details associated with many of the tasks.

    During these times of change, this position requires the flexibility and willingness to accept new responsibilities and potentially transfer others.

    It will also be the responsibility of any employee of CMH to be a positive influence on the transformation of our products and associated lines of business.

    A competitive daily rate will be provided, with 4% vacation pay and opportunities to ski, as available.
