Role description

We are Unity Solutions, a new team building custom software for a wide range of clients. Our professional services team works across multiple platforms incorporating cutting edge technologies like XR, ML, robotics and IoT.

We work on a diverse range of business verticals including automotive, retail, natural resources, manufacturing and entertainment.

We’re looking for talented technical artists to join our growing team in Calgary. Our teams work directly with clients, from the concept and proposal phase, to planning and build, and ultimately to the delivery.

As a senior technical artist, you’ll play a critical role in each phase of your projects. While your focus will be on building real-time 3D experiences, you’ll also work with our engineers and designers to ingest and visualize real world data.

You’re an experienced technical artist that owns your work, helps guide others, and has an eagerness to learn and grow. You have confidence and skills to champion and drive best-in-class interactive experiences for discerning clients.

Responsibilities

Research and experiment with cutting edge technologies to pioneer new techniques to match the ever-changing demands of ours clients and the industry

Collaborate in small teams to ship experiences for HoloLens 2, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, Vive, Oculus, iOS, Android, and more

Work directly with developers, designers, artists, and management both locally and remotely

Develop workflows, pipelines, and tools for projects and teams

Integrate assets provided by art & design, and implement the features associated with that asset

Requirements

Experience developing with Unity and Visual Studio at a high level

Solid understanding of a 3D creation suite of your choice (Maya, Blender, etc)

Experience and technical understanding of the mesh decimation process

Modelling, texturing, rigging, animation, or lighting expertise

Intermediate skill with C# or another programming language

Bonus Points

Experience with big industrial data (CAD, BIM, GIS, LIDAR terrain scans)

Production experience with headset AR and AR toolkits

Experience writing shaders, especially in HLSL / GLSL

Strong understanding of PBR workflows
