We have an immediate opening in the Calgary Market for a Day-Shift Moulder Operator Trainee.

  • What will you be doing in the Moulder Operator Trainee (Day Shift) position?

    This Operator Trainee position will report directly to the Plant Supervisor and is a member of the Metrie Manufacturing team.

    The role will be based out of our Calgary, AB facility.

    Operating Responsibilities

  • Engaged in supporting MPS initiatives (i.e., Safety, SMED, Continuous Improvement, 6S, etc.)
  • Lead by example to ensure Metrie’s core value is met; P.R.I.C.E (Passion, Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence)
  • Lead by example, maintaining a positive attitude while treating all other colleagues and associates with respect
  • Understanding of production scheduling system
  • Promoting teamwork while keeping crew members motivated and working efficiently
  • Provide positive feedback to fellow associates while soliciting feedback and opinions in return
  • Provide communication back to the supervision team when necessary
  • Ability to set up and operate both Powermat Moulders to the specifications of the manufacturer
  • Ability to produce products in accordance to the work order specifications
  • Understand SAP functionalities, and the necessary production documents (with respect to your role)
  • Demonstrate superior problem solving / troubleshooting capabilities
  • Ensure production targets are met while consistently producing product to work order specification
  • Ensure daily production continuously meets the requirements of IFOTIS (In full, On Time, In Spec)
  • Keep moulder and common areas clean and organized at all times
  • Quality checks as per department requirements
  • Cross training in other departments on the line (Saw, Priming, and Packaging) to further skillset
  • Full participation in all break rotations within your operating team
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervision / management
  • Safety Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply all safety policies & regulations (5 Steps to a Safe Day)
  • Trained and competent in Job Hazards (JH) as per the Job Hazard Assessment (JHA)
  • Follow all lockout procedures mandatory within the department
  • Demonstrate leadership in accident prevention through LPA reporting
  • Conducting S.S.A’s as per scheduled requirements
  • Full knowledge of machine operating procedures as per SOP’s and hazard assessments
  • Physical Demands

  • Frequent : Walking
  • Occasional : Standing in the same location
  • Constant : Standing
  • Lifting : Floor to waist, waist to floor
  • Pushing / Pulling : Frequent when relocating production carts
  • Hand to eye coordination and dexterity : Picking, pinching, holding, grasping, and repetitive rotation
