Job Description

The Formulation Commercializer collaborates with all areas of manufacturing and process engineers to ensure production problems are minimized, as well as run pilot batches and scale up productions that will improve quality and consistency of final products.

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and process engineering department for existing products (tablets / capsules / powders / liquids / softgels / coating) by performing on-site trials including minor reformulation for the purpose of alleviating / eliminating product quality issues
  • Design and conduct experimental trials to support product troubleshooting or reprocessing
  • Improve existing products by reviewing formulas, updating Bill of Materials and conducting benchtop / pilot trials in a cost effective and efficient manner
  • Apply statistical tools to identify and implement solutions
  • Assist with root cause analysis when issues arise as well as implement corrective and preventative measures
  • Initiate, complete and track change controls at bulk level
  • Prepare / revise Master Manufacturing Documents as per business requirements
  • Manage and maintain troubleshooting databases and Smartsheet reports
  • Oversee the manufacture of pilot batches scale-ups and production batches of new products and reprocessing
  • Prepare / assist in the preparation of the yearly Scientific Research and Experimental Development Reports (SR&ED) for tax credit purposes
  • Develop new skills in new areas of technology through training and awareness programs
  • Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Strictly adhere and observe all safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training sessions

  • Technical

  • Diploma, Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering or related science, or minimum 5 years of experience in tablet and capsule production
  • Demonstrated operational knowledge of pilot and production equipment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel), experience with ERP systems, SharePoint and Smartsheet an asset
  • Experience in lean manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Six Sigma etc.)
  • Extreme accuracy, attention to details and precision in a lab environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing dry dosage form (including blending, tableting, coating, encapsulation and powder filling and packing) is highly desirable
