Job Requirements :

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below :

  • Secondary school graduation plus formal education in business / accounting or similar discipline (e.g. finance, commerce, economics) is required .
  • Successful completion of the first year of a 2-year business / accounting / finance diploma program, or completion of at least Level One of the Government Financial Management Certificate may be preferred.

    Further preference may be given to candidates with a post-secondary degree in business / accounting or similar discipline.

    Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of one year of experience in assembling, manipulating, and presenting financial information (including expenditure and revenue) in support of organizational budgeting, expenditure and revenue monitoring / forecasting, revenue collection, and decision making.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in working collaboratively with partner agencies (internal or external to provincial government) to achieve organizational goals.
  • Intermediate level experience working with MS Excel or similar spreadsheet program. Examples of Intermediate level experience would include (not a comprehensive list) : Sorting, filtering, summarizing spreadsheet data;
  • Creating financial information gathering and reporting spreadsheets and workbooks; Updating spreadsheets (including importing data from one file into another);
  • Maintaining the integrity of spreadsheets (avoiding and / or troubleshooting data and / or calculation errors); and Creating and troubleshooting formulae and linkages within and between spreadsheets.

  • Experience working with MS Office Suite of software products (or similar) : Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook.
  • Experience working with government’s corporate accounting system (CAS), particularly generating reports and extracting data, may be preferred.
  • Experience working with BC Corrections’ CorNet client database may be preferred.
