Participate in the construction, erection, set up, renovation, and dismantling of temporary and permanent buildings, additions, and wood structured fixtures.
This position is Safety Sensitive and will require Drug and Alcohol testing as a condition of employment.
The Journeyman Carpenter (Site) performs some or all of the following duties :
Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas.
Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ladders and barricades required at construction sites.
Work at heights in fall arrest or fall restraint, as well as operating man lifts if certified.
Remove rubble and other debris, level earth to grade, dig footing or trenches using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other manual tools and equipment.
Assist other tradespersons such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers in general construction and modular installation activities.
Instruct and mentor other apprentices, and employees as required.
Assist heavy equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities moving materials and buildings.
Completion of forming, framing, insulating, timber work, building stairs and ramps, interior and exterior junctioning and finishing, fine carpentry, trims, and some millworks.
Operate all trades tools including pneumatic and electric power tools such as to chop saw, table saw, skill saw, radial arm saw, and drills.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications for the build.
Determine specifications and calculate requirements for construction, and adhere to these standards.
Start and complete jobs according to drawings and within the scheduled time frame.
Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood materials and drywall.
Clean work areas and equipment, continually maintaining good housekeeping.
Work with controlled construction products under the WHMIS classifications, after successful completion of the required training.
Complete daily Job Hazards Assessments and Field Level Risk Assessment forms.
Wear required Personal Protective Equipment at all times during work hours.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Required Education and Experience :
Work requires an education background normally equivalent to high school and completion of Carpenter Trade Certification acquired at an accredited university or college.
Minimum of 5 years carpentry-related work experience on construction sites that has been obtained in conjunction with a trade’s school.
Possess and maintain a safe driving record.
Position requires travel, and a working shift rotation.

Requires manual dexterity of both hands and feet to perform activities such as lifting overhead, twisting and bending while lifting, climbing ladders and stairs while wearing protective equipment, and working in confined spaces, including repetitive arm motion below, at, and above shoulder level.
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat / cold, wet / humid, and dry / arid conditions.
Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
