This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics.
Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Technical Instructor is responsible for the development and delivery of equipment and power related training programs.
This position can be based in Burnaby, BC or Bellingham, WA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct training classes for employees, vendors, business partners, and customers.
Develop existing and new product training materials.
Develop new training programs to support the needs of the industry.
Perform technical writing to enhance or modify existing training documents.
Perform technical writing to create training documents for new products.
Track customer and internal employee training records.
Deliver training both in person and online.
Continuously review and improve training programs and materials.
Update training materials to include product upgrades and shifts in industry trends.
Manage a small training team for larger training roll-outs.
Mentor trained technicians to verify and facilitate advanced skills certification.
Identify and report opportunities for process and quality improvements; take action when possible and involve supervisors and management teams when additional support is needed.
Travel to customer facility to assist and occasionally lead or perform equipment commissioning and repairs.
Occasionally lift equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs during room set up and field installations.
Occasionally travel with a tool case that may exceed 50 lbs.
Valid driver’s license is a requirement.
Valid passport or ability to obtain one is a requirement.
Ability to travel on short notice is desirable.
Diploma / Degree Electronics (Technology) program or equivalent.
Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and circuit descriptions is mandatory.
Ability to use a variety of test equipment, and understand electronic circuit functions.
Certification as an adult instructor is desirable.
Demonstrated experience in adult education.
Knowledge of both AC and DC systems installation, maintenance. and troubleshooting is essential.
Technical writing skills are desirable.
Clear concise English is mandatory.
French language skills are desirable.
Additional language fluency would be beneficial; French or Spanish would be very desirable.
Excellent MS Office computer skills are required.
Flexible work hours required (i.e. some weekend work and overtime).
Moderate travel is required both nationally and internationally.
