Your Opportunity :
The Manager - Primary Care is a key leadership role in the Edmonton Zone Community Health Services division and reports directly to the Director, Primary Care and Chronic Disease Management (PC and CDM).
This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization over the activities of the PC and CDM department in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services.
This includes the integration of various resources to carry out these activities specifically including project management.
The position is also responsible and accountable for making key decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievement of the goals of the PC and CDM department in the Edmonton Zone.
As part of the Community Health Services division, this position may be called upon to respond to a public health emergency (as identified by the Medical Officer of Health).
All Non-Union Exempt positions are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the AUPE General Support Services bargaining unit.
If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly.
The Manager, will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide leadership to the Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in the Edmonton Zone.
The Manager, is also responsible for : Establishing and facilitating development of Primary Care with the ultimate goal of providing ongoing strategic and operational support for individual PCNs.
The Manager, is required to work in an environment that is constantly evolving, with changing priorities and requires the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Project management accountability to develop and manage projects based on the needs of the PC and CDM department and CHS division.
Primary liaison between the PCNs and AHS Edmonton Zone to support primary care reform.
Required Qualifications :
A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in health related discipline, business or administration required.A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity (healthcare experience an asset).
Successful leadership experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills and client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services.
Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.Ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term plans and projects and deliver customer-
focused results.Ability to implement project management and quality and process improvement theories, principles, measurement techniques and tools.
Broad range of skills in system improvement, change leadership and management and knowledge translation.
Additional Required Qualifications :
Knowledgeable about the current political context in which health services are delivered and health decisions are made. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, and partners.
Preferred Qualifications :
A Master’s Degree is preferred. Knowledge of AHS’ Business Plan and its relationship to the Business Plans of the Primary Care Networks.
Broad knowledge of primary care, chronic disease prevention and management and key principles of primary care reform.
