The Role Learning Support Assistant
As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll be working with students between the ages of 5-8 with extreme challenging behaviour.
Apart from challenging behaviour pupils will have ADHD, ADD, Aspergers, Anxiety and SEBD so the successful Learning Support Assistant will need to be experienced or have an understanding of these needs.
The ideal Learning Support Assistant will be working with groups of 4-6 student at a time to assist with basic Maths & English, intervention groups will need to be fun, energetic and creative for pupils to stay engaged.
The School- Pupil Referral Unit
This Pupil Referral Unit in Surrey currently cater for students between the ages of 5-16 with extreme behaviour needs. The school’s aim is to reduce the numbers of pupils who are Permanently Excluded from school by offering mainstream schools an alternative to exclusion.
They offer a range of interventions so pupils can be supported, either within their mainstream school or at the college.
