Position Description Summary
Responsible for overseeing day-to-day departmental Unit Load Ground billing operations with the objective of timely, effective and profitable handling of billing and reporting.
The supervisor assists the manager in all relevant tasks assigned to that position to ensure the overall success and smooth functioning of the department.
The incumbent is aligned with customer and company expectations on all customer service and performance issues and ensures the delivery of a consistent good and high quality product.
Principal Accountabilities (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations) :
Ensures the department achieves established weekly and monthly KPI's for customer invoice accuracy and billing timeliness.
Works closely with Product Business Analyst to automate functions and improve productivity.
Understands overall department processes and workload assignments; can back-up and / or represent department manager in his / her absence.
Has personal responsibility for a select group of key accounts.
Interacts with all customers effectively and professionally. Represents the department with management and external partners / vendors.
Provides input to Management functions, when required. Assists with management assignments and projects, such as forecasting, workload planning, and personnel development.
Acts as a resource for issue resolution and training.
Acts as a resource for other projects and / or special requests, and performs these activities with minimal guidance and supervision.
Has formal supervisory and personnel development responsibilities for direct reports - including setting roles and expectations, delivering performance evaluations and establishing training needs.
Knowledge and Skills (The following minimum requirements are normal guidelines and should not constrain the advancement of otherwise qualified personnel) :
Sound shipping knowledge, with minimum 5+ years of ground operational experience; & / or freight-forwarding experience preferred.
Strong leadership skills : ability to set clear goals and achieve results, ability to develop solid relationships within the team, persuades and influences others, motivates people to perform, delegates and empowers others, mentors and coaches in a team environment.
Experience in managing / supervising a team of employees.
Excellent communication skills : communicates ideas clearly and concisely : provides feedback, recognition and support.
Strong planning and organizational skills : plans work and measures performance.
Excellent customer service skills : strong interpersonal and relationship building capabilities understands customer needs and how to satisfy them, cooperates with internal and external contacts.
Ability to manage stress : able to multi-task, problem-solve.
