The Opportunity

Reporting to the Product Manager, Tweed & SEO, the SEO Specialist will help drive and execute our global SEO and local search strategy at Canopy Growth.

This individual will work collaboratively across business units to ensure Digital products are informed by SEO best practices with the ultimate goal of driving high volumes of qualified organic traffic to our Digital properties.

This role is a member of the Digital Marketing Team and the Marketing Communications Division within Canopy Growth. As a central service, it supports our core and partner brands across both the Recreational, Medical and CBD markets.


  • Optimize both the volume of inbound organic traffic from search engines to our websites as well as the conversion rates for key KPIs.
  • Continually revitalize and optimize website content across all Canopy properties, and make SEO best-practice recommendations for new website launches.
  • Support digital marketing initiatives; prioritization, scheduling, tracking, workflow management and presentation.
  • Work with Analytics team to build monthly SEO reports based on rankings, traffic, impressions, device usage, CTR, etc.
  • and share with stakeholders.

  • Work with Creative team to develop SEO-informed content strategies and optimized copy for long-form article content.
  • Collaborate closely with Digital Product Owners and IT to ensure new site builds, pages, and projects are built in-line with SEO best-practices.
  • Proactively identify and recommend future campaign and initiative improvements.
  • Actively be aware and understand the continual evolution of SEO tactics, channel metrics, industry best practices, and A / B testing.
  • Provide post-campaign analysis of digital channel marketing campaigns.
  • Brainstorm new and creative SEO growth strategies in line with the future of search.

  • Experience

  • A self-motivated, results-oriented professional with a minimum of 1 year of SEO experience (preferably in an enterprise-
  • level agency environment) and a proven track record of improving organic search performance.

  • A keen eye for detail - someone who can mine through data and extract relevant, actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with Analytics tools (Adobe Analytics / Omniture, Google Analytics, etc.).
  • Familiarity with SEO and local search tools (i.e. Conductor Searchlight, Google Search Console, SEOMOZ, SEMrush, Yext, SweetIQ, Google My Business, etc.).
  • Strong collaboration skills, working with teams and cross functional business units.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills to analyze data and arrive at the best solution while building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders.
  • Continuous learning mindset in order to test, innovate, and learn.
  • Strong skills at process definition and optimization, developing and building upon SEO and UX best practices.
  • Someone who is curious, loves digital, and wants to be part of the team that will build not only best-in-class digital cannabis experiences, but the world’s best digital experiences.
  • Someone with a working knowledge of basic HTML, CSS, accessibility and web standards would be an excellent asset.
  • Experience with the Adobe Experience Cloud an asset.
  • Experience working in regulated industries is an asset.
