Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Advise and support the Director, Regulatory Affairs (Compliance) and provide independent oversight of the Compliance Programs to ensure that required measures are applied in a consistent manner across the corporation.
Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Programs and their related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
Prepare and file prescribed transaction reports with FINTRAC and responding to lawful requests from law enforcement and regulatory authorities, where appropriate.
Manage and deliver the RCM’s compliance training programs to ensure programs are fully documented and kept up-to-date, and that relevant testing is undertaken.
Keeps up-to-date on legislative and regulatory landscape, as well as on policies, programs and procedures, and remains aware of current industry trends.
Leads, facilitates, and advises departments in designing risk management processes for the Compliance Programs and formulating recommendations to reduce risk exposure.
Works closely and collaboratively with internal stakeholders and provides them with guidance and advice on risk and compliance related issues arising from new and proposed business activities.
Serve as an advisor to the Vice-President and management on the proper interpretation and application of relevant legislation, procedures and policies.
University Degree in Business, Law or Criminology, or related field.Holds or is working towards a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist designation.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a regulatory compliance role, or interpreting legislative and regulatory requirements, or related position with a combination of experience.
Â Â Possess a thorough knowledge of compliance requirements pursuant to the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act, the Corruption of Foreign Public Official Act, the LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance, and other relevant legislation and regulations including the Criminal Code.
Exceptional research and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to research regulations and compliance guidelines and reach independent decisions respecting appropriate application to the business environment.
Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.Adaptable to change having the ability to work independently, think critically, identify and prioritize issues, formulate solutions, drive results and deliver in a time sensitive manner.
Ability to integrate information from multiple sources to form a comprehensive perspective and to respond decisively and quickly to emerging opportunities or risks.
Willingness to travel and work irregular hours and / or work beyond normal hoursSecret level security clearance will be required.
English essential and French is an asset.
