Who we need

Reporting to the CFO, we have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller to join the Support Centre team and introduce governance and stewardship to our organization.

Who you are

You are an accounting professional with five years of progressive experience working for a larger company with multiple locations across the country, perhaps in the medical, manufacturing, or product industry.

You may be a Financial Manager who wants to take a step up, or you may be looking for an opportunity to introduce and implement new systems, processes, and analytics.

You can establish priorities and work towards achieving goals with minimal oversight, leading change management initiatives.

You are passionate about growing your career, and you want broader responsibility with a more significant visual impact across the organization.

While you are a process-driven person, you also possess great people skills and enjoy sharing best practices with internal teams.

As the Financial Controller, you will :

  • Lead financial process improvement activities. You will monitor and analyze financial processes to understand gaps. You will lead the development of more efficient procedures, best practices, and a more timely closing process while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • You will drive the education and training of critical financial concepts with the senior leadership team and across the company.

  • Lead quarterly financial reviews. You will prepare, review, and present internal and external financial statements for the senior leadership team, providing guidance and support in the interpretation of financial results.
  • Prepare budgets. You will work with the Finance Business Partners to support forecasting and budgeting for business units.
  • Manage the year-end financial audit process. You will lead the development of annual internal audits and supporting related activities.
  • You will ensure compliance with local reporting requirements.

  • Support ad hoc special projects as required. You will lead income tax return preparation. You will provide proactive solutions to issues.
  • The successful Financial Controller will have :

  • Education. A degree in Finance or Accounting and CMA or CPA accreditation.
  • Experience. You have 6-8 years of experience working in accounting and finance, providing oversight, being hands-on, and making day-to-day decisions.
  • You have excellent knowledge of GAAP (ASPE). Exposure to tax regulations and payroll management would be a benefit.

  • Technical skills. You have comfort with an ERP system, ideally Navision as well as MS Office.
  • Business acumen. You are business savvy with direct process design experience and can see the big picture regarding the company’s overall business requirements.
  • You are analytical, and you have well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Leadership & collaboration. You understand team dynamics; you can successfully engage individuals and guide team discussions.
  • You are a workplace culture champion, you can collaborate with peers and associates in other departments, and you are happy to roll up your sleeves and jump in where needed.

  • Communication skills. You can build relationships and establish a level of trust and credibility internally and externally.
  • You have outstanding written and verbal skills.
