Position Overview Reporting to the Manager, IS Applications this position is responsible to provide leadership in the provision of application support activities.

Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of application support activities; ensure applications maintain performance through software life cycle and designated projects are completed according to plan.

Ensure completeness of problem and impact analysis; review root cause and recommend solutions. Provide support in decision making processes regarding software enhancements and upgrades.

Participate in the resolution of application functional and performance issues.

Provide technical leadership and direction to staff using effective management techniques; select, retain, coach, develop staff and ensure the use of best practices in development methodologies.

  • Evaluate and provide performance feedback. Ensure effective utilization of resources; monitor and prioritize assignments including support activities for software applications;
  • ensure staff provide an efficient, reliable, stable and cost effective application support model in collaboration with others.

  • Coordinate and review application solution architecture to ensure compliance with enterprise road map and technical requirements;
  • ensure alignment of information technologies with business strategies and plans. Manage application enhancement projects in accordance with PMO methodology to ensure implementation of software applications according to plan;
  • review project progress to identify problems, intervene to limit financial impacts / project delays and approve project milestones.

    Ensure all quality assurance, user acceptance, and approval processes are followed with required documentations for all projects.

    Establish and maintain effective relationships with others; participate in planning sessions, conceptualize plans and provide expert advice for future developments.

    Liaise with others regarding infrastructure operational issues, systems planning and related policies and procedures.

    Manage budgets; identify and investigate variances and initiate corrective action or justify non-adherence. Identify data and trends to be used for future budget planning.

    Prepare valid rationales and justifications.

    Requirements Education and Experience :

    Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science or Engineering from a recognized program plus 5 years recent, related supervisory experience in information systems, support and delivery or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Technical Competencies :

    Knowledge of application development technologies, technical architecture, trends and code review

    Knowledge of project management principles

    Ability to develop, support and maintain complex applications

    Ability to manage capital and operating budgets

    Ability to provide supervision and leadership to staff

    Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and technology partners

    Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

    Ability to organize work, meet priorities and work within demanding work schedules

    Ability to analyze and resolve problems

    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
