Partner with us to land your next exciting career! On behalf of our client, AGI-VIS, we are searching for an experienced and driven Human Resources Advisor to join the team in Oak Bluff, Manitoba.

With over 22 years of experience, AGI is a leading manufacturer of grain, feed and fertilizer handling, storage, and conditioning equipment.

Their growth is driven by robust global agricultural fundamentals whose brands are amongst the most recognized inglobal agriculture.

AGI-VIS operates a manufacturing facility in Oak Bluff which has the capability and flexibility for the manufacturing of small and oversized components.

Their goal is to provide their clients with the maximum economic lifespan from their investment.

The Human Resources Advisor will be a key strategic member and report directly to the senior leadership team. They will play a critical role in identifying and diagnosing organizational issues, developing practical solutions and implementing action plans.

The person we are seeking will have a keen desire to be part of the business and is a proven leader who can both coach and mentor.

The incumbent of this role will be looked upon to make solidrecommendations to manage critical details with excellent organization and follow up to deliver measurable results.

The ability to earn trust, gain respect and influence decision making is very important while the confidence to address problems and make difficult decisions should be balanced with empathy, personal warmth and strong relationship building skills.

Key accountabilities

  • Partner with Operations / Plant leadership to effectively connect the company’s vision and strategy to people practices.
  • Identify and diagnose organizational issues, develop practical solutions, and implement action plans.
  • Keep ahead of the curve on industry trends and HR best practices and recommend programs to consistently raise the bar.
  • Manage recruiting efforts to ensure an effective supply of adequately qualified, motivated and productive staff and maintain a positive work environment free from external influences.
  • Develop, maintain and enforce procedures, policies, and guidelines required to ensure compliance with all applicable Human Rights, Employment and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Administer payroll and benefits functions to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of all payroll and benefits including on-
  • time reviews, on-time and accurate payment of all earned wages, benefits and profit share.

  • Provide a high level of research, data and reporting as required for both strategic planning and to support the effective management of all staff.

  • Maintain all human resource documents and records such as policies, organizational information, job descriptions and employee records in a confidential manner in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Manage all disability management efforts including WCB filing, reporting and record keeping, development and implementation of modified (light) duty programs and return to work strategies.
  • Plant Security; managing and controlling all access to the property, including security codes and keys.
  • Workforce and succession planning to meet both the immediate needs and long-term growth of the organization.
  • Job Tasks / Activities

  • Provide direction and training to management and supervisors regarding wage and benefits eligibility, pay grids,and performance management programs.
  • Provide training and mentoring to management and supervisory team regarding progressive disciplinary measures, coaching and counseling effective behavior management, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Work with management and employees to help resolve work-related or interpersonal issues.
  • Ensure both current and prospective employees are fully aware of company policies regarding job duties, working conditions, safety, wages, career advancement opportunities, and employee benefits.
  • Review and process company payroll to ensure all compensation is administered correctly, on time and in accordance with legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records and compile statistical reports relating to all HR functions as required.
  • Maintain accurate employment and market intelligence on key regional employers and competitors.

  • Ensure new employees receive adequate pre-employment orientations designed to foster a positive and safe work experience.
  • Ensure effective exit interviews are conducted and provide analysis and recommendations to management.
  • Investigate and provide resolutions to senior management on all employee relations matters and allegations.
  • Plan, organize and attend recruitment or trade fairs as required to fulfill the scope of the position.
  • Ensure all key company communications are effectively distributed and understood by all employees; this will include coordination of translation services.
  • Maintain a current database of applicable job descriptions.Complete other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Develop and foster relationships with key community stakeholders including business and government representatives to promote and advance appropriate interests.

  • The Human Resource Coordinator will be available to all staff regardless of shift or plant location. The position may require occasional travel and will routinely involve participation in local business and community functions including career development and human resource meetings where he / she will liaise with community partners and stakeholders.
  • This position will also involve public speaking and teaching.

    Skills & Qualifications

  • 4 to 5 years of work experience in HR required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related business or social sciences discipline
  • Attainment of CPHR designation or current enrollment in attaining or other related designations.
  • Work experience in recruitment required, with demonstrated working knowledge of multiple human resource areas.
  • Data analysis and research skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide beneficial recommendations to solve complex Human
  • Resource issues related to regulations, laws and policies.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Remember to consider and plan for future taxes on different types of assets when transitioning through a divorce or separation.

  • Presentation and public speaking skills required.
