The department head, under the supervision of the management team, directs department operations to ensure the department always meets company standards.


  • Provide department employees with guidance on performance of their duties;
  • In conjunction with the employees, always ensure that the department is kept neat and tidy;
  • Use a positive, collaborative approach to train and integrate new department employees in accordance with company standards;
  • Provide department employees with ongoing coaching to ensure they make customer service their priority;
  • Perform the sales consultant role in an exemplary manner and act as a resource person to other consultants on the team;
  • Every day before operations begin, see what needs to be done in the department and identify the tasks to be completed (folding, stocking, cleaning, etc.);
  • Set up the daily work schedule and assign tasks to employees on the team;
  • Schedule break and meal times on a daily basis while maintaining appropriate staffing levels on the sales floor;
  • Help window dressers make marketing changes, when required, and introduce samples of new merchandise that fit in well with the current visual presentation;
  • Share ideas with window dressers about ways to promote various products and increase sales;
  • Constantly check what merchandise is available at the back of the store to promote efficient restocking;
  • Act as a role model for department employees;
  • Minimize losses by educating staff on the attitudes and behaviours to be adopted when handling merchandise;
  • Any other related tasks.

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar job
  • Excellent knowledge of clothing sales
  • Customer service talent
  • Know how to manage time and priorities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and dynamism
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work quickly
