Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario and our goal is to create a transportation network that enhances the prosperity, sustainability and quality of life for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

We lead planning in the region with a Regional Transportation Plan that guides the work and investments of the organization.

This includes building light transit, bus rapid transit and Regional Express Rail, as well as operating GO Transit, UP Express and PRESTO.

Our Community Relations Office is seeking six Community Relations and Issues Specialists to develop and implement strategic and effective community relations and communications plans for Toronto Expansion Projects.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Developsand creates integrated project design and construction communication strategiesthat support and enhance Metrolinx’s corporate image and objectives
  • Developsstrong and effective relationships with the residents, businesses and otherlocal stakeholders to enhance and expedite Toronto Expansion Projects andMetrolinx’s public communications efforts and image by :
  • Definingand clearly communicating Metrolinx’s viewpoint, interests, and project-relatedfacts
  • Conductingprimary and secondary research to investigate project and public informationand produce accurate and effective key messages
  • Createsopportunities for community engagement to have a say on the project
  • Developing,monitoring, and maintaining a communication / contact log to chronicle actionstaken and results
  • Developingcommunications and presentations arising from project data and distribution tothe affected neighbourhood, thru pamphlet drops and / or the public facingwebsite
  • Analyzingand interpreting information to ensure that all final products meet Metrolinx’scorporate communications objectives
  • Location : Community Offices along the routefrom Liberty Village neighborhood to Riverdale, North to Don Mills and Eglinton

    Number of Positions : Six (6)

    Qualifications

  • Minimumfour (4) years’ experience in communications and media relations, customerservice, or community relations with experience executing and communicatinginformational and promotional material to the general public
  • Musthave a valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence and must meet corporatestandard for a good driving record. Valid driver licence must be maintainedduring the employment relationship and are a condition of employment
  • Completeproficiency in the English language is essential to facilitate high profilepublic communications
  • Knowledgeof customer service techniques and tactics including social media
  • Completionof a diploma in Communications, Media or related field or a combination ofeducation, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Abilityto communicate in French is an asset
  • Previousexperience working on large infrastructure projects will be considered an asset
  • Previousexperience in facilitating a public consultation process or engagement session
  • Moderncommunication techniques and software applications (e.g. desktop publishing,word processing, web-authoring)
  • Knowledgeof issues management related to multimedia products, and internetcommunications
  • Experienceleading community projects to deliver finalized communications products withintight deadlines
  • Organizational,research, planning, and project management skills
  • Interpersonal,diplomacy, and oral / written communication skills to collaborate and provideproject information to the general public
  • Yourstandard work week is 7.25 hours per day, 36.25 per week, working Monday toFriday and occasionally on evenings and weekends
