What can you expect in this role?

Reporting to the Vice President, Regional Operations, the Senior Analyst is responsible for providing key internal stakeholders with value-added, business performance insights and financial analysis to assist in their decision-making process for managing the day-to-day and long-term business needs of the Personal Insurance business lines.

The analytical support provided by this role enables Senior Leaders within Personal insurance to understand the impact of their decisions.

Articulating and effectively communicating business performance insights and impacts to the business in written and presentation format is a critical part of the role.

This role is primarily responsible for identifying any potential problems or risk areas as well as opportunities that business stakeholder may need to be aware of and act on.

In summary this role is accountable for providing the Personal Insurance Senior Leadership team with value-added financial and non-financial information and analysis to assist in their decision-making process More specifically this role is responsible for : Business performance insights and financial analysis support for personal insurance broker channel portfolio specifically Development and execution of timely, accurate key divisional business performance reporting (monthly, quarterly, ad hoc) which provides complete financial and business performance information and analysis that meets the requirements of both internal (Board of Directors, Senior Executives and other internal senior stakeholders) and external (Investors, Regulators and Auditors) stakeholders.

Analyzing actuals to plan / forecast and identifying the key business performance drivers and reasons for any variances.

Creating and maintaining a monthly rolling forecast model to track expectations to plan and advise on areas of opportunity Collaborating with Actuarial, Underwriting, Finance to understand underlying financial and non-financial assumptions and reporting to assess variances to plan and prior year Adhoc Analyses and Reporting.

What do you bring to the role? University degree in Accounting or Business or related program A recognized accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA).

Superior written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with senior executives and other cross divisional leaders in the organisation Prior experience in financial management reporting and business performance analysis is required Knowledge and experience with insurance industry accounting would be an asset Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint knowledge is required.

VBA skills would be an asset Proven record of analytical expertise and excellent attention to detail At a minimum 5 years of relevant, full-time experience in a financial management or reporting role.

Preferably in the property and casualty insurance industry An ability to make to make well-informed, effective, and timely decisions Ability to work in a team or independently with moderate supervision .

Self-motivated and consistently demonstrates an ability to take initiative on any issue Professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions with customers and / or co-worker We also take potential into consideration.
