The Registered Nurse performs a variety of nursing duties in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. The successful candidate will administer safe and effective nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards.
The Royal Alexandra Hospital is one of two Tertiary Trauma Centers in the City of Edmonton and one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Canada.
Our patients encompass a diverse socio-economic spectrum and multi-cultural backgrounds.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-
being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications :
Minimum 1 year emergency nursing experience within the last two years required. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organization and patient care skills required along with the ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner.
Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating priorities and workloads.Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur.
Preferred Qualifications :
Certified Emergency Nurse (C.N.A. or C.N.E.) an asset.Preference will be given to those with one or more of the following certifications : Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience in a tertiary care facility Emergency Department. Acute / Critical Care experience, within the last two years, an asset.
