Stellar Creative Lab is hiring a Pipeline TD with focus on Lighting / Rendering who can bring their talent to the design and development of a brand-new facility-wide cg-animation lighting and rendering pipeline.
Working with peers and facility supervisors they contribute to the design and implementation of tools and techniques that empower digital artists to work efficiently by making difficult tasks easy and by making easy tasks fast.
The role requires a strong understanding of software design and development, in particular in the area of lighting and rendering.
What We Need :
Experience in designing and developing lighting and rendering workflows and tools while working with a team of project leads and Supervisors.
Proficient knowledge of, and experience with shading, lighting, rendering and compositing workflows, in one or more of the industry DCCs such as Maya, Houdini, Nuke or Katana.
Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze production workflow and procedures with a solid approach to problem solving.
Expert level understanding of a CG Animation pipeline.
Able to define, document and communicate standards and techniques for pipeline development, to create production efficiencies and ensure a consistent and high level technical quality.
Your Main Job Duties and Responsibilities :
Collaborate with department supervisors, leads and other TDs to establish workflows.
Work with other TDs, supervisors and artists to create and develop tools and workflows for lighting and rendering, for facility use or for specific projects.
QA and troubleshoot rendering issues and performance and fix problems encountered by artists during production.
Research and recommend pipeline techniques or workflows to improve productivity.
Create documentation and tutorials for tools and workflows.
Assist in training artists in the use of pipeline tools and workflows.
Your Experience, Talents and Abilities :
3+ years experience as a Technical Director in the CG industry.
Previous experience developing code for Maya or Nuke using Python is a must.
Proficient knowledge of Linux and knowledge of PyQt a plus.
Working experience with one or more professional graphics packages including Maya, Nuke, Houdini and Katana.
Working experience and proficient knowledge with one or more industry render-engine such as Redshift, Renderman, Arnold or Vray.
Working experience with a Render Farm such as Qube, Deadline and Rush. Experience with rendering on the cloud is a big plus.
Proficiency in one or more industry APIs such as openGL, USD, OIIO, OCIO, Alembic, including the Maya SDK, HDK, Nuke SDK preferred.
