Deputy Fire Chief City of White Rock White Rock, BC Apply Now White Rock Fire Rescue & Emergency Services, seeks a leader with outstanding work ethic and a safety first attitude to join the departments Management Team.

The Deputy Fire Chief will play an integral role in supporting the department's mission and vision for providing community protection.

The Deputy Fire Chief directs, supervises, coordinates assigned tasks in fire prevention, education, and training. Additionally, the Deputy Fire Chief oversees operational areas of the department and directs tactical operations at fire and emergency scenes.

As a valued member of the management team, this position provides input to business planning and longer term strategic planning.

This role requires a decisive, strategic thinker, who has demonstrated problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, change management, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will have a progressive and inclusive management style that supports diversity. The successful candidate for this position will have extensive experience in the day-

to-day operations of fire and emergency services, including a minimum of five years' experience in a progressive supervisory and leadership capacity within a composite municipal fire department with proven in-

depth knowledge of the organizational performance, human resource, financial, and political issues facing Canadian emergency services organizations.

Qualifications for the role include completion of Fire Officer Level III, Fire Investigation Level II, Fire Inspection training, Fire Services Instructor Level II and a diploma or degree in Fire services, business and / or public administration or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.

  • Please note as a condition of ongoing employment you must : maintain a successful Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check;
  • live within defined proximity of ?the City's Fire Hall; will be required to share on-call duty chief responsibilities after regular work hours possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
