KPMG Lighthouse Toronto has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Administrator to join our team!

What you will do :

You will work to improve the reliability of our systems through continuous improvements to running infrastructure

RDBMS (e.g. MS SQL, Oracle, IBM DB2) administration including installation, configuration, user / group management, authorization, backup / recovery, performance tuning & optimization

Ensure reliability of critical infrastructure platforms + work to improve and maintain availability, scalability, service and system performance.

Investigate system errors & problems, bottleneck analysis of the system at scale, etc.

Constantly monitor and assess systems to make sure that processes are operating as designed.

Troubleshoot errors and fix system issues via periodic testing, support requests, and other methods.

Work to ensure database integrity, security, and ongoing performance.

Responding and resolving infrastructure issues or outages.

Take initiative to solve problems in real time as well as before they happen.

Perform hardware and software upgrades.

Test and install operating system updates, patches and configuration changes in conjunction with software providers and vendors or other third parties.

Analyze system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.

Respond to internal requests and quickly arrange repair or hardware replacement in case of a failure.

Being able to write documentation that can be used with minimal user knowledge.

What you bring to the role :

Proven experience building and administering Windows and Linux servers and desktops / laptops

Solid knowledge and experience of enterprise networking, including AD / LDAP, DNS, DHCP, security, firewall, SSL, VPN, etc.

Knowledge and experience of major cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, including :

Instance provisioning, in particular Data & Analytics and AI & Cognitive Services

Integration with enterprise directory services like AD, LDAP, etc.

Enterprise security including authorization, authentication, audit, and encryption

Shell (Bash / Python / Perl) scripting for process automation

Azure / AWS / GCP certification is a must

Good knowledge and best practices on mainstream RDBMS (e.g. MS SQL, Oracle, IBM DB2) administration including installation, configuration, user / group management, authorization, backup / recovery, performance tuning & optimization

Comfortable with at least one of these scripting languages : Shell, Python / Perl, PowerShell

System admin knowledge and experience with big data environments / platforms like Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL such as MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.

and security through integration with existing AD / LDAP using Kerberos, Knox, Ranger / Sentry, etc.

Knowledge and experience of virtualization and containerization using Docker, Kubernetes and / or equivalent

Familiarity with DevOps
