Position Summary :

This is a Fulltime position on a 7on / 7 off Rotation Compressed Work Schedule

Flight, Camp and / or Bussing available

Role Summary :

Bouchier is looking for a Building Operator who is ambitious, hardworking, and eager to learn new skills while supporting the organization in a variety of roles.

The Building operator handles and maintains heating systems and works with various pieces of equipment, such as steam boilers or water heating systems.

They perform routine maintenance, test boiler water, ensuring safety guidelines are met, updating records, and solving basic technical issues.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Take and log readings for ABSA twice daily of pressures, temperatures, and equipment details.
  • Interpret readings and adjust as needed.
  • Perform chemical tests on boiler loops and add chemical as needed.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections of mechanical equipment including air handling units, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers and compressors
  • Perform PM duties such as changing side stream filters, testing boilers alarms / trips
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance tasks and maintain maintenance records
  • Perform start ups and shutdowns on equipment for annual inspections.
  • Respond to emergencies such as power failures, floods, and fires
  • Work alongside other tradesmen to trouble shoot and repair equipment.
  • Have a general comprehension on BMS computer-based systems.
  • Adjust the pressure vessels to ensure system pressure and temperature is balanced.
  • Keep mechanical rooms clean via vacuuming / mopping / dusting.
  • Report problems and recommend changes to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, or comply with environmental, building and safety codes
  • Ensure HS&E legislation and regulations are being adhered to
  • Have a general comprehension on BMS computer-based systems.
  • Ensure specified standards are adhered to in accordance with contract provisions
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Education & Experience :

  • Alberta-certified journeyperson or a recognized related trade certificate
  • Possess a current Class 5 Building Operator or 4th Class Alberta Power Engineering / Building Operator Certificate with ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association)
  • 3 or more years experience in hands on building operations experience, preferably in oil industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of building systems
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rectify a large variety of operational problems
  • Ability to get along well with others on a work team
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019)
  • All applicants must have the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English.
